Some strangeness with 6.02.
Working on a new tune. All VI's at this point.
1 instance of the following followed by the # of parts...
Omnisphere-8
RMX-4
Ethno-3
Ivory-1
Real guitar-1
plus 2 Ativerbs and 1 Pro Verb
On playback with 6.01 audio performance is 50-60%
With 6.02 I'm at 90% or higher.
Uninstalled 6.02 and reinstalled with same results.
Repaired permissions and ran disc warrior with same results.
Any comments or help is appreciated.

I just installed 6.02 and when I launched it I got a fatal error pop up.
As it was loading all the plugins the Bias demo bundle with GateX, Squeeze, etc apparently expired
and it gave me the choice of buying or cancel, but for every plugin in that Bias bundle and then crashed.
I tried trashing everything Bias, except for Soundsoap which I've had for a few years and still crashes.
I even tried having the DP6 installer disc in the computer when I launched DP 6.2 and CRASH!
The fatal error pops up after a few plugins get loaded, I click OK and it goes through loading all my plugins and then crashes on me.
Can anyone here please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Robert
Hey Robert take out all your plugins (except the motu ones) put them in the disabled folder in your plugin folder in the library (if there is not a disabled folder just create one) and boot DP. If it boots and all is fine close it, then put one back in and reboot, do this until you find the bad one/s.
Also try deleting the AU cache file in user/library/preferences/digital performer.
Hope you get it sorted

Did you check to see that some of the instruments did not get changed in their real-time vs. pre-render status? Did all your studio configuration settings remain the same. Just wondering.

i"m finding the opposite really to Davelee. Dp seems much responsive and the CPU hit seems slightly lower.
+1 on the pre render check.

Take a look at your Hardware Driver config -- Buffer size, Work priority, Multiplier. Maybe something in there got changed or needs to be adjusted. I set the Work Priority to Low and that made a big difference in lowering the CPU usage. It might also be a pre-render or real-time thing with the VIs. I don't know.

Yeppers... I have my work priority set to "Medium" and it works great. I'm not sure what the big advantage is to setting it to "High?" It's a natural impulse to set it there, but I've found that it doesn't seem to buy me anything.

I don't even know what Work Priority means in this context, but Magic Dave told me to set it to Low on my PB G4 and it made a big difference, and now on my new machine, it was set to High and I was getting some playback buffer alerts, so I set it to Low and it made a big difference -- like 30% less CPU usage worth of difference.

Lounge Lizard works great in 6.02, same with Philharmonik and all the other IK plugs! Melodyne Bridge also seems to be working well, at least for me!

Yeah... I also discovered (not news to some here I know) that you can push closer to the limit on a UAD-1 card if you set your work priority to low also. I may try changing it there now. Again, can anybody name a single
meaningful advantage to setting work priority to high??

Yes, it's snappier

.
But then, I'm not a very sophisticated user of DP, so my joyful experience with the update last night is probably not representative.
I unfortunately haven't the time to sift through fifteen full pages of posts on a brand-new topic. Has this ever happened before, over just one day?

It seems like quite the bug so I think it deserves it.

Already did:

In fact this board software has a "Split Topics" function. So I am able to select certain posts and move them into their own topic, which is what I did at the link above.

I may do this for the Stillwell plugs issue as well.

I didn't know about the split topics function but that is cool...
Thanks
