i switched back to DP5 today because the fact that the Sound Toys plugs don't work at all is a deal killer for me... so, until DP6 works better with 3rd party plugs, i'm sticking with 5.

as soon as i booted 5 back.. i realized how much easier on the eyes it is. in my, one-person, opinion.. DP6 is a major step down in the GUI department. to each their own.. but i hope they do something to give us options.

i suggest others try that.. work in DP6 for a few hours.. then open up a project in 5 and see how much more your eyes relax.. how less strained they feel.
+1 I totally agree. I think the reason this thread keeps going, is because at least some of us don't feel different is better. Having choices would keep everyone happy. I think we need a consensus on how to present this to MOTU. (Other than having Frodo hand out sun glasses for the presentation on Friday) :)

-1. Disagree.

(Just trying to not be left out of the constant tallying we're doing here lately.)

The whole thing is just so subjective, frankly. But I just don't want to be left out of the running total.

It is HIGHLY subjective. Which of course I think is why a lot of us are trying to figure out the best approach for all when approaching MOTU with our suggestions.

I know that I am. Which is why I am spending a LOT of time in photoshop testing out different ideas to send to them.

Hey Mike, I hope the gig went well on the weekend mate.
I was almost starting to miss your big hairy ass. Almost.

Please don't take any of the following the wrong way; I offer the following as a minor injection of temperance in the interests of counter-balance and Unicorn world peace.
MIDI Life Crisis wrote:There are at least a few members posts that I don't bother to read anymore when I see their avatar.
I myself don't pre-judge anyone's input; if it's the next post in line, I read it.

Heck, I even read that new-fangled fine print some folks sign off with.
MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Sad to say as in their past lives these members contributed much. But in their current incarnation, these folks have next to nothing to offer but complaints and off topic drivel.
Eat the meat and spit out the bones, I always say.
Anyway, it's not my business to profile or map other 'Cornies' input, is it?
MIDI Life Crisis wrote:And while the O/T section is for O/T stuff, it has gotten pretty plain old stupid lately
Near as I can tell, it's always been a mix of philosophical debate, (mostly zany) humour, personal reflection, death notices and interesting observations or discoveries in the science and tech worlds.

Sure, the ratios are ever-changing over time, but the essence still remains, IMHO.
More importantly, I feel, the bonds between us continue to be strengthened by our use of the freedoms the less business-like approach of the area offers.
MIDI Life Crisis wrote:... with threads specifically about being the "most" off topic thread...
For your information, Magilla, that one was created as an easy out for anyone looking to share stuff, for a laugh or just for the company.
It has already dabbled in many areas and has proved enlightening for this silly monkey, and I'd hope others.

If it and other so-called "plain old stupid" threads annoy you, you're entitled to ignore them.
I've tried that approach, but somehow still manage to get sucked into dabbling a little here and there (that "Anyone" thread is ridiculous by anyone's standards) in even the silliest of threads because the company is good.
MIDI Life Crisis wrote: and a dumping ground for folks who could care less about DP, or MOTU or music.
I defy you to name a single member who qualifies as such; for one thing, I've not met anyone here who doesn't care about music.
That's OTT IMHO, Magilla.
MIDI Life Crisis wrote:I'd be in favor of eliminating that if it would keep the likes of Chrispick around.
What? I love the sentiment and applaud you for it, Mike, but if we head down the pasteurisation route we'll all end up bland, or even worse, making predictable music! (Tongue firmly in cheek)

There. I'm done.
Please take this post (as I'm sure you will) with a pinch of salt.
Rock on Magilla! :D

PS: FWIW, the OT area is a pinch of salt and a hint of spice in this dish we call UnicorNation, IMHO. :D

If Chris finds the Off-Topic forum to his disliking, he needn't read it. That's why it's there -- to catch the stuff that's not appropriate in the DP forum, and to give members a place to chat. I post there periodically, but I don't read most of the threads. Some of them absolutely offend me (I'm not much for scatology), but I defend James's prescience in creating the Off Topic forum for that very reason: people like to talk, and it keeps them hanging around for when they really DO have something to contribute... in the RIGHT forum. It's easy to choose the threads one desires to read and avoid the others.

Chris left for his own reasons. Those do not concern us. Changing the forum would be neither a good idea, nor a desirable method of luring back people who have decided to leave in such a way that they must announce it and blame others, as if their leaving was some sort of punishment. Since Chris's ire was directed at me, despite not having confronted me in private to explain the nature of my offense to him, nor having responded to my invitation to return and resolve the differences, I just have to say Sayonara, Chris. Better luck elsewhere.

As Popeye says: I yam what I yam... etc.
