Bootcut? What's that mean, exactly? Is it anything similar to dickhead? I'd surely assume title of supreme assmunch to get MOTU to pony up with some improvements in the stability of Machfive when it comes to sample level editting.
Preface to say, I'm actively working on 2 libraries that will be rolled out in early 2006 (NAMM). Both libraries will offer formats for EXS24, Gigga (3), Kontakt (1/2), and Machfive. The size of libraries will delve into the "thousands" sample-wise, and "hundreds" preset-wise. A further preface is that 95 percent of sample editting is being doing either in a host sequencer (DP/Logic) or Peak, or booth. So essentially, little to no destructive sample editting is taking place in any of the engines formatted for.
I'm curious, when you say solid from day one, exactly how much asset creation have you done inside the M5 engine?... Specific destructive sample editting withing the sampling window in M5? Spent any time fumbling with the archaic directory architecture that M5 employs?... On that note, did you know that you can't rename, move (etc) samples from one folder to another without them becoming unrecognizable when you reload a preset (and there's not way to have it search for, or point to new directories to reload)?
Have you ever tried to do repeated group drag and drops into the M5 window? ...Oh, yeah, and then once you manage to get them in, have fun appying (or saving, I should say) forward loops with crossfades... Once you do one loop, saving additional loops in presets causes errors.
I guess my point is that anyone who's spent half an hour trying to do ANY specific types of formatting for M5 outside of utilizing Xtract (uvi) to import existing libraries (this does a great job with several formats, and a sh*tty job with several other formats-NKI, Sample Cell..) have all come to the same conclusions.
If you're loading in an S3000 library, then whoopty fricking doo... Sure it'll play nice. But so won't every other sampler on the market.
MOTU has some really amazing software, but they need to focus on BETTER honing what's there. Please understand, while I'm a bit down on them right now, it is because I'm experiencing issues that should have been resolved months ago, and have just been ignored.
Hell, the formatted assets I've done play back ROCK solid in Machfive... It's getting them formatted from raw assets that is the problem.

Hey man. Didn't mean any insult. I apologize if that intention was unclear. I typed a parenthetical disclaimer in reference to that in my prior post, but I guess you missed or misinterpreted it?
I
am sorry you're running into problems with MachFive. For me, it's worked fine. Granted, I've mostly used it to translate samples files (most of which I've already listed) and occasionally make my own samples. I've put in more than 30 minutes working with it.
And yeah, many other samplers can do what MachFive can do. Some can do more. All I was commented on was my specific experience with M5's performance -- which has been 100% positive. This site, like most BBs, is often inundated with negative criticisms. Just wanted to offer some counterbalance. M5 doesn't suck for everyone.

Hi, i'm french too and went to Univers Sons (USB shop in Paris) where they also develop M5 v2. At this time, they don't know when it's released (programming is not finished yet, they seem to be correcting bugs), but I can tell you that that the new Machfive will be terrific!
It's like you add Stylus Rmx to the old Machfive. With better import functions. And multiple outputs for AU version. And everything you've already read. And some surprise.
Chatting with my friend at the shop I guessed that they took so many time because the new Kontakt is better than they expected and Stylus Rmx gave them some new ideas.
Some people reproached M5 to be only a sample player, not easy to handle. Now, USB seems to listen to their customers...
Oh, there is also this new "cross" button like in MSI to erase all parts in the instrument at once. Cooooooool

No time to read all of the above. Afraid if I read it all, I'll miss something important, like the release of Mach Five II or something.
But...
Been to France.
Love France.
Love the people of France.
Love the art of France.
Love the music of France.

You guys are forgetting that MOTU doesn't develop Mach V. It's made by the French company USB Sounds, makers of Ultra Focus, Charlie, MX4, Spectrasonics Atmopshere and Trilogy. Basically USB Sounds develops and owns the rights to the UVI Engine. So the fact that information is coming from France first doesn't surprise me.

as i am in paris for 3 weeks i too went to the shop and asked about the new update. here's what i learned. RMX +10 is how it was described. he wouldn't show it to me but confirmed the above post. better import, RMX type engine added, hipper interface and lots of MIDI tracks.
he also stated what many of us know already, MOTU likes to wait until things are working right before releasing. so when it hits i'm guessing it'll be really ready for prime time.
i won't be buying Kontakt 2 after all. no need.......

Has there been any rumors about MOTU expanding/improving the sound library included with MachFive? I know that NI has expanded theirs with the latest version of Kontakt and used it as a selling point. There's room for improvement there in MachFive as well.

but MX4 doesn't even use UVI..... Pretty sure that one is done by MOTU.

I disagree. I things weren't working right in *most situations* this board would have TEN TIMES the posts it has.

Also, I've cut a bunch of the OT political/national crap from this topic. It really does not belong here.
