Thanks for all of your suggestions, most of which I didnt understand. Haha.

This was such a one time, down and dirty thing, all I did was route the track which I was recording on (through a mic set up in front of my monitors) to something other than Main Out 1-2. This got rid of the feedback problem.

As I said, down and dirty. Maybe I'll try Blackhole if it ever comes up again. The name is familiar, I think I may have had that once upon a time.

One might be able to adjust recording level in Setting/Sound/Input. Not spending the $8 to find out, however.

The free version of Wondershare does the same but records video—double-click to open in QuickTime to export the m4a.

Unless there's something I am missing, DP can import and convert m4a but cannot record it. One can output DP and Zoom directly to the Wondershare's Speaker Audio Recorder without using an interface or making an Aggregate Device as one needs if bringing Core Audio to the mix. Can System Audio Recorder do the same? The setup would be the same in DP as I showed for the Wondershare at the beginning of my video.
