Interesting! I'm really interested in real-word reports on this. Perhaps this even deserves its own thread? M1 vs M2?
Any reason to believe this would be an M1 vs M2 issue? Although I now have both, I don't have anything from Blue Cat Audio.

Not really, except for some anecdotal reports that seem possibly suspect. My own experience with M1 Ventura is that DP seems reluctant to spread the work beyond the efficiency cores.

There's a blog where they go into detail. I think some of you regulars might have noticed I've talked about issues with Ventura and audio apps. Blue Cat believe it was due to multi core issues in Ventura. They started a thread in the developer section of KVR with a link to the full description of the issue in their blog. Might be worth watching this thread to see what people say.

Yes, that post and the Blue Cat blog are really all I can find at the moment. Will be watching.

Sounds like it’s an OS issue. I think Apple is probably still working out the kinks in the new architecture.

Yea, I saw a YouTube about that and M1 vs M2 but much of the guy's other info was wrong so I shrugged it off as It affects me when it affects me.

Had the Refurb M1 Studio Ultras been offered at a significant $avings, I would have bought one instead. As it turned out, my M2 was $300 less than an M1 with less RAM (128 vs 192), fewer CPU cores (20 vs 24) and a few more GPU cores (64 vs 60). I see that M1 is still there while the 8TB M2s on either side are gone. Glad I pounced when I did.

Blue Cat are reliable, I trust their take is solid. They're putting it out there for other developers to tear apart if they can so...

I actually got to have dinner at NAMM back in April with Guillaume Jeulin, who pretty much IS Blue Cat Audio, along with a couple other DP users, Carlos Bedoya and Barry Wood. Very nice guy and very brilliant developer. We all had great conversations about tech and where things are going. I can tell you Guillaume is very credible and his opinion carries a lot of weight with me.

So with the release of DP 11.23 and the Sonoma fixes I decided to bite the bullet and give Sonoma a shot. (Yes I did a time machine backup immediately before updating).

So far, so good. The update went smoothly. All my apps seem to work ok. I haven't had time to check every plugin, but the ones I use most often all seem to work fine. No crashes, yet. No noticeable slow-downs or snappiness. All in all, I haven't really noticed anything different performance wise. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. 8)

Your friendly neighborhood Phil

That's been my experience, too. Knock on wood. I don't really deal with outside music clients and don't have any urgent projects right now, so I went ahead and took a chance to update to Sonoma. I do this largely because I'm keen on trying to find issues early on so I can report them to MOTU or other developers, like Avid. I'm not a Pro Tools guy (although I do have it on my Mac for testing purposes) but I recently bought a used Avid S3 control surface, and so I'm rather invested in EUCON and robust support in DP.

I'm experiencing some weirdnesses with Kontakt, Komplete Kontrol 3, and the MPC 2.1.2.
The MPC is just spiking in VSTi2 in Sonoma, KK is hanging DP11.23 on occasion, plus it and Kontakt are the likeley culprits in some DP has crashed messages that happen without crashing DP??? :smash:
