The main problem I have seen so far (other stuff that I've had a chance to check is fixed, but my time is limited right now due to tax season), is that changing audio plugin settings crashes DP every time, once it gets to its automated relaunch of the audio engine followed by MAS loading. This happens to me every single time, without exception, or it hangs DP.

Data Point: An all-audio tracks project created in 11.21 opened without issue in 11.22..

Other than a problem created by corrupt preferences (mentioned elsewhere) that I’ve had since DP 10, I’ve had one crash with 11.22 which happened after I removed all the preference folders and DP did a new scan of plugins. It restarted OK, and hasn’t crashed since. I’ve been using it to try out a lot of free plugins discussed here, and not seen anything amiss like crashes due changes in plugin settings. I wonder if that might be something related to permissions in new macOS versions.

Not fixed on my end :(

Not fixed here, either. !!!###!!

It DOES seem as though the problem was partially addressed- the amount by which the windows are redrawn lower seems to be about half of what it was previously. Before, the window would drop by the same height as the title bar of a typical DP window like Soundbites window. Now, they seem to be dropping by about half that amount.

I'm going to update the ticket I filed on this and let them know.
I sent MOTU a screen recording of this yesterday, just got informed that they've reproduced the bug in-house (again) and they are in the process of addressing the issue (again).

I haven't tested this. At least they're gonna take another shot at it. Unfortunately, although it's an inconvenience, fortunately this isn't what I'd call a showstopper.

I'm no longer experiencing crashes when the MOTU audio engine restarts after changes to settings or plug-ins. I think it was just one of those new release bootstrapping things, where it takes a few passes to stabilize and settle down with self-consistent settings (I didn't trash preferences this time).

• Improved the channel assignment mechanism for hardware i/o and instrument side-chains.

Can anyone tell me what this actually means? I got excited when I saw it because I thought it might be a fix for my issue. I effectively cannot use hardware inserts with my RME interface in DP because of a naming issue (works fine in Pro Tools and other DAWs though).

Alas, it was not fixed.. so now I'm wondering what this "enhancement" is.

Perhaps not an ideal solution, but I wonder if you could use Rogue Amoeba's Loopback software to bridge to your RME.

With Loopback you can set up virtual devices that engage any combination of hardware & software sources/destinations.

My RME Fireface 800 still works with an M1 MBP and OS 12.6.4, BUT I have to quit the settings & totalmix apps upon booting and I can't use Mac sleep.

Would you mind going into detail here? I have an RME Fireface 800 plugged into via ADAT a Babyface Pro FS, and I don't experience any issue naming the inserts etc.

I'm sorry I should have been more clear. I have a problem with my RME host. It is a MADI FX PCIe card, which offers 192+ channels of MADI over fiber optics to my interfaces proper- a 48 channel SSL Alphalink that goes to my console and my mastering chain, and a 32 channel Behringer X-32 Rack as a keyboard mixer.

The RME card has so many channels that in order to be Core Audio compliant, It has to publish the channels out in banks of 8. So MADI channel 1 is labeled as "MADI 1-8 1". MADI channel 27 is labeled "MADI 25-32 27." Apparently this confuses The hardware insert plugin, which can only reliably use the first 8 channels as inserts. In my setup, those are the first 8 analog channels of the console. My mastering rig starts at (digital) channels 25-26, so I'm out of luck for that and I have to use Pro Tools for mastering.

The reason Pro Tools works for this is because the actual physical I/O is remapped to whatever you named it, just like the Bundles in DP. The difference is, in DP you are only allowed to use the actual hardware I/O names in the insert plugin, and not the Bundle names. To be able to interpret more complex naming conventions, or better yet to make selecting bundle names possible in the hardware insert, are really the only solutions to my problem.

I think this may have been fixed in 11.3. Things appear to be working correctly on my end...

...so far anyway. :?
