I'm a simple man. When I got the Air I just started from scratch. Moved nothing over from the Mac Pro here except actual DP song files etc. To be fair though, my plan is to keep most non native plug ins on the Mac Pro as a VEP slave, and port them over to the Air here as the master when they go native. So far all I've installed non native plug in wise is Amplitube 5 and the VEP plug in. I installed the Metasynth application and the Raven MTi2 software too, but those both had announcements about being compatible with Rosetta 2.

IMO and I'm not trying to be Chicken Little here, but I think Migration assistant isn't going to catch every incompatibility between x86 El Capitan native applications etc. and Big Sur on an M1 Mac. There will be housecleaning to do, and I think you're experiencing a bit of that.
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

Yeah I think you're correct. Forks and spoons...both do the same thing...but they are noticeably different in their structure.

Guess I was just trying to get ahead of the curve somewhat (M1) after being behind it for so long. Add in the supply chain issues we see in the world today and...yeah :surrender:

You're going to love all of it, it's going to be so much better. :koolaid: I just wish I had been able to chime in before you jumped on Migration Assistant. You're not doomed or anything, you're just running a whole lot of software probably that had to be translated to M1, that's living in Rosetta 2 format, that might be why you're having issues.

I too suspect I will enjoy immensely once I'm up and running on all cylinders. Just gotta go about it with due diligence.

Thinking I might attempt to zip multiple files (say 5 out of 100) at the same time to cut down on that. Just hope I'm not being overzealous with that and encounter any errors because of it.

It may have to wait just a bit until I have more time.

I'm not certain I could actually do that. The Mac Pro is stuck on 10.11.6 (El Capitan) and requires a 'Metal" card to upgrade it's OS. DP 7.24 was as far as it could go I believe. However, being the Mayor of Simpleton (thanks XTC), I could very easily be overlooking something with regards to that.
You could take that Mac to 10.13 without a Metal-capable GPU. OTOH, might not want to risk it until you've got everything settled with the new Mac!

Although MOTU says DP11 is supported on 10.13 and later, you could try installing it and see if it will work. OTOH, installing DP11 could wipe out your DP7 install, so BEWARE!

Best way, if you want to upgrade OS and/or DP or both would be to start with a fresh boot drive, install 10.13, and install DP, saving your current boot drive from any potential harm.

I should also mention that your Mac Pro (2010 5.1 sounds like) could easily be upgraded to dual X5680 CPUs (3.33gHz) for about $50 using eBay-purchased used CPUs. Many others including me have done the CPU upgrade.
