I never updated this I guess. Pshp cs5 just needed to pass Apple security prefs. Works fine but always crashes on quit. Quicken ok.

It's one of the reasons I'll keep a Mac running pre Catalina regardless of when the mess with plugins get fixed. That and quickly stringing videos together. But I never had to pay for it after the initial purchase way back when. Sometimes I had to put my name and SN in again.

QT Pro 5 was paid but that code did not work for QT 6. You had to pay again for the QT Pro 6 code But that did apply forward to QT Pro 7. At some point, Apple stopped storing our Pro codes in our Apple/iTunes accounts. If you didn’t store it elsewhere, you’re out of luck. Fortunately, looking at the License screen still reveals the code and user name (both must be correct).

Interestingly, the last version was 7.7 for OS 10.5 but this was incompatible with Snow Leopard which uses 7.66 and must be installed in the Utilities Folder or it conflicts with QT 10,x, part of the OS.

I still use QT 7 Pro but don’t know if I need it anymore. It isn’t the reason I haven’t update to Catalina.

And on that note, I recommend that everyone launch their license screens BEFORE upgrading to Catalina, and take screenshots and/or write down the info on paper or in a text file.

Once you've upgraded, the 32-bit apps won't launch, so you won't be able to see the license screen. This bit me for PListEdit Pro and QuickTime 7 as well as PCalc and HexEdit.

When I upgraded to Mojave from Mavericks, Filemaker Pro 13 no longer works. Am I right in understanding that I can install Mavericks in Parallels and use it to run Filemaker Pro 13 on my Mojave Mac? I already own Parallels and don't want to pay $500 to upgrade Filemaker, which I only need to use occasionally now. I assume it will run more slowly in Parallels, but if it doesn't crash, it will be a wonderful solution for me.

Update:

I'm ready for Catalina except for my Encore files. I need to open a number of them, export as MusicXML and print to pdf. SmartScore 64 isn't that great at scanning lyrics so, between the .xml (no lyrics or expressions) and .pdf copies, I shouldn't lose all those years of church work.

EazyDraw

I mentioned this before but I have a lot of files done in MacWrite/Draw/Paint, Claris & AppleWorks. LibreOffice (opensource/free/donationware) can handle word processing and database files done in those apps but cannot handle any graphics files. I found EazyDraw.app
http://eazydraw.com/

They have 9 month ($20) and regular ($95 licenses. The 64 bit version cannot open .cwk graphics but an older 32bit version, now called EazyDraw Retro.app can — the catch is that being 32 bit, it will not work in Catalina. After purchasing EazyDraw, they'll email a license for EazyDraw Retro on request. Contrary to the paragraph below, Retro works over Mojave without a hitch.

EazyDraw version 9 no longer supports import of MacDraw, MacDrawII, MacDrawPro, ClarisDraw or AppleWorks drawings. To import these drawings a retro-version of EazyDraw is provided. This version of EazyDraw still supports these retro-drawings and the import and conversion of PICT vector images. The "retro-version" runs on macOS 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, 10.10, 10.11, 10.12, and 10.13. imported drawings are then saved in EazyDraw graphic format (or SVG, PDF, ... ) for use on the current macOS technology and EazyDraw version 9. The retro-version is provided on Flash with the USB Flash drive or download from the EazyDraw Support web page.

Couldn't be easier.

a)Using Finder/Find, I found all those old files and moved them into a new folder on my desktop.

b)I set my graphics files to open in Retro via GetInfo/Apply to all on one file.

c)Double-click on an old file and after it opens in Retro, hit Save. Done. The 64 bit version opens the new .ezdraw file by default.

d) Trashed the old files and emptied. Went to a remaining .cwk file and selected LibreOffice as the default app / apply to all. Pages has trouble opening many older files whereas LO only balks on graphics. Since LO can open those old files over Catalina, no reason to convert today.

Took me abut an hour to convert a couple hundred files going back to my Mac Plus, many of them album and cassette covers I did back in the day. Clients sometimes can't find the original artwork so now I have access to the original scans and layouts again.
