Thanks for following up. It's nice to know you able to resolve it with minimal brain damage.

Anyone want to guess why they VIs worked in stand-alone, but not in DP? Default settings?

I may have spoken too soon. Changing the driver reduced the volume greatly, minimizing the distortion. It still seems to be there. I'm looking into several other possibilities.

It’s been suggested that you post an audio example. I second that. The reports of gravel sound doesn’t really help in determining the actual problem.
