Thanks for response. I did figure out where to go and once again register another account (register 2 new accounts iLok and UVI) just to get some “so so” sound samples? DP needs to take a look at MixCraft 10.x and to how much easier it is to get samples, loops, VST into the software seamlessly. However, on exit of DP I got a crash message and had the log sent to their servers … not a great start to DP. Hope I don’t have to go down the same refund route as I did with Cubase disaster.

I opened a support ticket with MOTU and Travis got back to me to suggest the UVI is installed with DP install … sadly no mention of this in their own documentation/user guides and their website says nothing and point to a video that is no longer accurate.

The crazy world of DAW software, VST, samples, MIDI files copy protection … seems to be trend … Cubase does the same crazy license process. Being a software engineer by profession with 37+ years experience I know there is a better way to protect content and integrate into external software. But I honestly feel like Cubase, DP, Logic, Studio One and more are managed by a single developer. ;).

Yes, I recently referred to the old way and was corrected by someone from MOTU Support saying that it's now included. I couldn't find that thread and it is not documented — but I still recommend using the UVI Portal for keeping the Workstation up to date.

The included MOTU VIs are a subset of old UVI libraries. MOTU has no license to develop or improve other than to keep them current with Mac/Win which they do. The iLok requirement goes back to this and is imposed by UVI.

Comparisons to that gawdawful hot mess that Steinberg calls licensing are way off base.

I don't know if you realize that we are a users's group and have no affiliation with MOTU. That's a good thing. We post a lot of great info that you can't get from MOTU because it is not officially supported.

Hi everyone,

Travis from MOTU here to clarify that this was actually my mistake. We were missing a link on the site for the Windows installer and that's fixed now. UVI Workstation is a separate install required for the MOTU Instruments Sounbank. You can either install the version from the site, or using UVI's install portal.

Feel free to reach out to us at MOTU Support any time if you have any questions: MOTU.com/techsupport

Thanks for the post, Travis. Good to see folks from the Unicorn Mothership show up around here. And thanks again for helping me out recently with my 828es routing issues. You rock! :headbang:
