1) Trash the analysis file of the watermarked audio
2) Trash the watermarked audio from the audio files folder, put the "clean" copy into the audio files folder, and rename it so it has the exact same name as the old watermarked audio
3) Reload the project.
Surely there is a more elegant way?
Thanks!
That's how I've always done it. I've never figured out a better way, although there should be IMO.

I love it. Look to a computer program to solve a problem that should never have happened in the first place. I don’t mean to be a bully here but it seems to me that if you’re going into a pro gig you should get pro material to work with or have the client pay for the extra work that was necessitated by their deficiency of n providing appropriate source material.
That said, sure DP should be able to handle this. However, no programmer will be prepared for every contingency. It’s akin to having deposited counterfeit money in your bank and then expecting Quicken to turn that into USD.
Workarounds are great, it not having a more elegant solution in DP or any other app built for a different purpose is not necessarily the problem. YMMV.

I disagree. I think replacing an audio file with a different version should be trivial. This has come up many times for me over the years in situations that had nothing to do with the OP's situation.

You’re 100% missing the entirety of what the original poster was doing and why he did it. He used someone else’s watermarked material for a podcast, finished the work in DP before the copyright permission was cleared, so replacing it with the audio files in DP that sounded good and were cleared is what he was asking about. He’s not working for someone else from what I can tell, so the extra work he made for himself wasn’t anyone elise’s fault. No user error on his part other than being too ambitious with his edits before getting the final audio files.
I posted the wrong SNL jpg it should have been Emily Latella!

I guess I'll just have to accept that I have a different perception of my work ethic and client base. I have no objection to having the app do this, it just doesn't get anywhere close to my wheelhouse.

Uh, I think the whole purpose of being able to download watermarked mp3s from music library sellers is so that you can try them out in your project risk-free. And then, when you are happy with how the music is working, you pay for the license, download the clean, watermark-free version, and then replace the watermarked demo version.
There's nothing "unprofessional" about this workflow.

I was following this with some interest. In the semi old days of film editing, one would create an EDL (edit decision list) that would have all the cut points mapped out in SMPTE. Is there such a thing for DP?
Maybe add SMPTE to your watermarked and new audio and create a cut list for the child files.
Then again I may have no idea what I’m talking about. Next time I’m in front of my computer I’ll have a look. I tend to get mixed up with the many different pieces of software I use.

The problem with that, if it's even possible, would be that the "child" soundbites need to point to the replaced parent, which would involve a different set of (hidden within the 'Bites themselves) parameters altogether.

I'm amused at the "suspicion" .... "Why are your files watermarked, OP???"
Every single production music library on the internet puts watermarks on their preview audio. For instance, random Audio Jungle track:
https://audiojungle.net/item/epic-trail ... 2?s_rank=0
That female voice periodically saying "audio jungle! audio jungle!" is called a watermark. There's even software that automates inserting watermarks:
https://watermark.agsoundtrax.com/
This is normal, not shady, not sneaky, not unusual, not unprofessional.
"Updating links" is a normal part of workflow in a lot of software. For instance, I can place an image into an Adobe Premiere document, in many places on the timeline - apply crops, zooms, add filters, etc etc - and then I can "update or replace the link" to the original asset, and it will update everywhere it is used.
Putting this in as a feature request for DP 10....

No suspicion. It was an honest question. I'm a composer, so temp music is alien to me. I never get it in my productions. If i do I ask that it be removed.

Honestly the replace function in Soundbites is a PITA to me. Not that it's that much better in other DAWs, but it always strikes me as crazy how NI got it 100% right with Kontakt, and no one else seems to get it.
Take for instance missing files, in Kontakt there are multiple ways to search for the missing files, all in a single dialogue box, including Search with Spotlight and Search for Folder. 99% of the time I have missing files in DP it's because a copy of the original DP project doesn't include the audio files, and if MOTU had a search for folder function it would be beyond simple to relink those files...
