Have you reported to AudioEase?

No, not yet. But that's a good point.

I have been trying to troubleshoot to work out exactly which circumstances cause the crash on save. It's not happening on every project. I opened up a project this afternoon with several Altiverb instances, including Audio track inserts as well as Aux channel busses, and it all worked fine and saved perfectly.

Audio Ease confirms it's a bug:
Hi,

Thanks.
This has to do with macOS 10.13 and the AFP hard disk formatting. The only two solutions are: 1) wait for our fix, 2) revert to an earlier macOS (10.12 or lower). Both options are unfortunately not very pleasant, sorry.
Using VST temporarily could work too, but indeed opening older projects is not going to work this way.
I have filed this as a bug. We will try to fix this in the next update, but at this moment I dare not to say when this will be ready.

Best regards,

It does this for me too. Some projects are fine and others will crash. Very strange.

Thanks for that. I appreciate how quick, upfront & honest they've been about it. If only Altiverb wasn't my #1 go to plug-in that I absolutely can't do without! (that and MW EQ, of course)

Hmmm.... tough decision. At least I made a time machine backup before updating to High Sierra.

Thank you... saved me from pain; much appreciated.

Note that if the issue is, in fact, the disc formatting, I understand one can install Hi Sierra on a spinner then clone it to a boot SSD to avoid the new Apple formatting being applied.

I understand that the latest version of CCC 5 can do this and install a Recovery partition. Neat trick if it works but I understand that they finally got it right.

Once the incompatibility is fixed, they say you then Command r into that recovery partition and reformat as APFS so you can take advantage of the benefits. This will not erase data. It's better to redownload the complete 10.13 installer from the App Store and rerun it, however. This installs the latest firmware update on your Mac—without it, you cannot boot from an APFS drive.

I noticed that 10.13.4 and the 10.13.5 Beta 3 have run additional firmware updates on mine. This did not interfere with rebooting from my main SSD that is running 10.13.3.

Thanks! That could have been useful to know.

In other news: "Altiverb 7.3.4 - released Jun 4, 2018 - fixed a filesystem issue on macOS 10.13 High Sierra (this could cause crashes on open / save)"

Looks like they have fixed the issue. I'll report back later to confirm.

Edit: Yep works fine now. No crashes!
