Yeah, I get that people want to use the coolest, fastest methods of doing stuff like this, but it's really not the way recordings of any decent quality are made. I seriously doubt the recordings are more than a few minutes. Even if they were, you can spend more time figuring outa way to do it "efficiently" and ignore the most efficient method - which is often the simplest. Just sayin'

In my case, I'm ghostwriting a book and 2 hours is the time limit in iOS before one has to make a new recording.

2 hours is the time limit with a Zoom recorder, too, Interestingly, if you use a Zoom iOS mic with their app, it creates a new recording automatically at the 2 hour mark. They edit seamlessly (not that it matters for what I do).

I use a zoom as well. iDON'T use an iPhone for a two hour recording. IMO, that's a really dumb idea. Sure, in a pinch, but as a regular practice, it's dumb. But if you want to figure out a way to accommodate that in the latest, new-fangled way, have at it.

Yes.
Since I got Ableton Live 10, I've been enjoying recording little snippets of sound with my iPhone, just to play around and get to know/learn the app. I've been making pads out of my dog's barks, kitchen utensils, my sister in law's speech, etc.
it's fun!

The sounds snippets get so mangled, that the initial recording quality almost becomes irrelevant. For more serious work, I have my mics and studio.

Oh, and I will be receiving my Zoom recorder soon! That WILL replace my iPhone

It’s great, because you can bypass iTunes for many things you need to do on your Mac and much more.

I’ve had it a few years. It just works .
