All my used machines still work, the new ones are the ones that died.

Doesn't it have two quad cores? Maybe that's the source of confusion. And there was a single quad core according to Mactracker.

Naw. The confusion was that she thought the Mac Pro WAS the 8 core and that it was introduced in 2013 (trash can). Obviously not a Mac person. Now it's going to be fun explaining to her what the Rosetta 800 is.

There were 8 and 12 core macs score that. I have an 8 core I can snap a pic of for you. I’m sure there has to be some site with that info as well. What a bone head adjuster.

Yes, the site is Apple. They still have specs on old models. I emailed her a pdf spec sheet of my model and a photo of my waterlogged cheese grater.

That’s not all I’m showing. Be thankful there are constraints in this forum.

Well, good news. They are giving me enough to get the 8 core trash can (base model). I can put in some cash of my own if I want more memory/storage. I'm very happy with that.
Haven't heard on the converters yet.

That would be the perfect DP machine. BE SURE TO GET at least 32GB RAM and AT LEAST 1TB SSD. I'd suggest 2TB or better if you can swing it. You won't be disappointed in the machine.
You'll need some FW to TB convertors if you have any FW stuff to connect. USB3 seems a wee bit faster than TB on my external drives.
