I get crackling and a beachball in save while playing in DP 9.5.1. It goes away when it's done saving but what else happens I'm not sure.

Have you watched the Audio Performance meter while this is going on? I wonder if it's a disk activity issue. If the playback meter is running high, it could be a clue.

Maybe the same thing as the "chirp" during Save during play reported a couple of weeks ago. It appeared in 9.5. No one reported any side effects

I think the comment on different machines experiencing different issues is correct.

I used to buy new Macs when they came out every time but recently realized the trashcan machines wern't faster than a modified '09 or above desktop and way too expensive. I would also loose PCI slots. These new bugs for me are really disappointing as there may be no where else I can afford to go. I just hope the newer versions of DP will keep us older machines and users going is all. :) Thanks for all the input.

I've been impressed with how much I can still do in DP, track and VI count, etc, on my ancient coal powered iMac, and I'm impressed with High Sierra, and that my iMac can run it. I had Macs because originally it was the best thing for running Cubase, and then later the only thing that ran DP.

But now, I think Logic is the only thing that doesn't run on a PC. The price of a Mac with significantly more power that what I have is nutz, even a loaded up Mini. So when the new PM comes out I'll take a look, but when it's time to update, why not a PC? As I buy and update software, I've been downloading PC versions of everything for quite a while now, so setting up a new PC or a new Mac is a toss of a large coin.

Agree. We'll just have to see whats there when the machines grind to a halt.

Again, that could be due to trying to save some bud...

The “chirp/crackle/stutter” thing now happens
on my system every time I Save while Play is
engaged. It is getting pretty darn annoying,
especially when tracking with a vocalist..it
scares the vocalist.

I’m sure others have submitted a tech support
bug report about this, but I am going to submit
one tomorrow anyway. Previous versions of DP
never exhibited this problem.

Wait, you're hitting save while tracking a vocal? Shame on you. The vocalist SHOULD be scared.

Lol.

Not saving while tracking. Saving while playing and listening to playback during a tracking session. As in, "lets rewind and listen". "Cool!...er..what the f..k was that???!!"

I'm with you on the Save while playing bug.
I've had the same experience while saving when playing back a new take for clients.
They say... "What was that? Is our file O.K.?"
Only a big deal because DP never did this before.
I am a frequent and constant saver, so this impacts my workflow.
All is well
