And I thought I was the only train fanatic around here (model and full size). Sometimes text only can be an issue because very often people can't explain exactly what's what; terminology doesn't help much either because we don't know what the poster doesn't know. So truthfully the old saw about a picture is worth a thousand words is true. I mean you can explain MIDI connections in terms of ins and outs but unless a poster specifically says they have USB MIDI or traditional 5 pin DIN MIDI pathways some of the explanation won't mean diddly.stubbsonic wrote:This sure was an unsatisfying "help out a noob" thread.

I just got back from Spencer, NC, checking out the roundhouse, Shay, E8, and other stuff, not to mention the old Southern's "Loops at Old Fort," east of Asheville.
