Does Audio MIDI Setup see your interface in the audio window? Does it see your MIDI devices in the MIDI window?

If not, do you have the right drivers installed for your Edirol?

If so, you will find the diagrams you need in your manuals and in the YouTube videos.

Mac os 10 Tiger

Yes to all

cuttime wrote:I don't recall whether this feature was available in DP 5, as it has since been removed, however under the "Setup" menu there used to be an "Auto Configure" device option. I used it several times to configure devices that DP would not otherwise recognize.

did 'Auto Configure'

I don't hear the MIDI patch change but I see its write the note in DP..

Ignore this, Matt.

Incorrect. There are no MIDI paths mapped out. Fail, Stoivo. LOL

There's stuff that goes in, a bunch of rods and levers to pull, some wheels get turned, stuff mixes together and some stuff acts upon other stuff, some work is done, and out comes more stuff and a LOT of sound. Maybe it's not exactly what you want, but it's better than any diagram I could draw:

Or you could use the ones in the manuals. Your choice.

I was scrolling down the page slowly as I read the thread, and the second the top of this image caught my eye I and I saw your avatar, I started laughing, 'Meister.

Not much else to say, really, except that I hope you're well, mate.

OK, carry on folks...

Oh, not as much coal in the firebox, and the ashpans need shaking out, but once I get a good head of steam I can still get those drivers rolling!

Shoosh

If these don't help you

Then I can't either.

Do you have a set of manuals for DP 5?

And I thought I was the only train fanatic around here (model and full size). Been binge watching some old video tapes (!) of New York Central and it's steam engines this weekend after touring an old abandoned line turned into a hike/bike trail.

This sure was an unsatisfying "help out a noob" thread.

I can understand a "visual learner" wanting to come to a text-based forum to ask for visual help. But even in offering all the resources we did offer, all we get is "Never mind, I figured it out."

Not a text person, I guess.

Sometimes text only can be an issue because very often people can't explain exactly what's what; terminology doesn't help much either because we don't know what the poster doesn't know. So truthfully the old saw about a picture is worth a thousand words is true. I mean you can explain MIDI connections in terms of ins and outs but unless a poster specifically says they have USB MIDI or traditional 5 pin DIN MIDI pathways some of the explanation won't mean diddly.

All that being said it truly irks me when I see the phrase 'never mind I figured it out' because you don't know what was done (was it something someone here posted or was it something else) and it doesn't add to the collective knowledgebase so if in the future someone else runs into the same type of thing the answer is already there and you just have to point them to the answer.

Yeah Jack, well said mate.

Agreed Stubbsy; there's no resolve! We audio types need resolution, IMHO.

Man, you just opened a keg of spikes. I just got back from Spencer, NC, checking out the roundhouse, Shay, E8, and other stuff, not to mention the old Southern's "Loops at Old Fort," east of Asheville. We've got some catching up to do, but I'll spare the poor folks here of what happens when two railroaders get to talking.

LOL Thank you, Shoosh.

Of course, I know no theory, so I'll assume you took me to the brink and released me.
