None of the drives will mount not be recognized in disk utility using the USB to IDE SATA cable.
Any thoughts?

1) Everything off.
2) Hook this up via usb. Turn this on first before you boot your Mac.
3) Boot your Mac.
For some reason, you may have to shut down and try this a few times before it works.

update ...
the cables I borrowed from my friend worked. both drives mounted.
i bought cables off of ebay that just arrived (link posted above) and I plugged the power into my IDE drive (Lacie Porsche drive circa 2006) and within 3 seconds it started smoking. Unplugged.
Plugged just the SATA drive (no power needed for this 2.5" drive) and it mounted and ran fine.
So ... I'm guessing the power supply on these cables I bought are either mis-marked, defective, or like to smoke a a lot.
At any rate ... for future reference, I might just start buying the internal SATA drive that I can either put in my mac pro or use connecters. Instead of buying expensive external drives that are in the least, $20+.

Pictured is the diode that is smoking when I plug in.
My screwdriver is pointing to it.
Anyone know where to order a new pcb for this LaCie drive and how to tell what model this pcb is?
