Hey CBergm, Can you tell me the routing you are using to do this? Are you setting up specific pairs in VEP itself to return to DP via 'instruments bundles'? Or ....?
Hey, LabMan.
I wrote a very detailed description on how to accomplish that in this thread:
http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 26&t=50004
I hope this helps.
If FM's topic does not seal the deal for ya' let me know and I'll make a brief video for further clarification...no sweat.

FM, I see from your nicely detailed work this quote...
"is that in order use the input monitor button, you have to set the monitoring to 'through plugins' rather than 'through hardware'."
alas. Is that correct, If so, it probably wont work for us. We have to move in and out of video and organic live trking amdist our scoring.

That's too bad
But if switching between those 2 modes can be quickly changed with a shortcut, and the computer does it fast, perhaps it's still workable?
You could do a similar procedure with regular Aux tracks, but then you'd need a ton of redundant bundles, which can be a showstopper.

I am a bit confused by this statement, as "hardware monitoring versus monitoring with effects processing" (as stated on page 224 manual DP 7) only addresses a latency issue, not whether you can use the Input Monitor button or not.
As long as a track has a valid source, it can be listened by routing it to the main's, yes?

Now I'm confused
I'm not in front of DP now, but I don't think I could hear the audio returns unless DP was set to Hardware Monitoring.
If this is not so please let me know.

The hardware option is greyed out for me as I do not have any MOTU hardware (I assume?) so perhaps this particular point is a non-issue for this problem?
Through FX is the only option that I have in that dialog box...in other words...
There could be something else going on with lab's issue. Any update there, labman? Or still no go?

still no-go.
Engineer says we cant toggle between direct hardware and Monitor thru FX due to needing to cut live inst at same time as VI's on occassion which requires Cuemix usage for all the phone sends to different rooms.

As per previous posts I do not think this is a relevant issue as monitoring through hardware vs through the inserts is only about latency. There is something else going on why you cannot hear your source. Getting from point A to E with your signal chain is like hooking up plumbing pipe to route water, so something is not right with the path, methinks.
Perhaps you could post a pic from the TO of the tracks so signal chain could be evaluated?

ooops. Probably wasn't clear enough in my post CB. Engineer meant that if we have to run in 'monitor thru fx' mode then this particular technique cannot be used by us, as Cuemix needs you to be in 'direct hardware' mode.

No worries, Lab Man.
I was just stating that I do not think that the issue of running in hardware mode or not has anything to do with the issue you are having. You should be able to run audio tracks in Input Monitoring mode either way, in other words.
