Still not understanding why you wouldn't just use Time Machine to accomplish the same task. I gave the instructions in the other thread. It is the easiest way to accomplish what you are trying to do.

Toodamhip? Did you repair permissions after installing everything in DP8.01? I was having trouble with plugins, so I repaired permissions, and it actually fixed everything. It repaired a couple dozen permissions directly related to DP, MAS, Core Audio, and plugins.

That may or may not fix the problem you were having, but it sure fixed mine. Everything is running smoothly now.

Not just a good idea with DP beginning 4. Failure to run Repair Permissions can cause many parts of DP to misbehave. It could easily be the problem.

I ran it just now and got a couple of pages - every one had to do with plugins. I guess I must have forgotten to run it after installing the 8.01 upgrade.

Yeah, I ran a bunch of stuff like that, started in safe mode too (fsk) and ran scripts.

If so, can you go back to the old partition should ML prove problematic?
To install DP 8, I added a ML partition to my drive (which only had SL) using Disk Utility. I still have V7.24 and SL on the old partition.

The downside is that the ML partition is below the SL partition on the drive. Once you're done with the SL partition, you can't give the space to the ML partition because you can only erase the lower partitions. So best to make the new ML partition as big as possible and leave the SL as small as possible.

FWIW, whenever install a substantial OS update, it is always on a blank drive.

I do believe we are officially o/t now... :sorry:
