I also have trouble using the spdif input of my MKII with my Boss GT8. Before owning the MKII I used an MAudio audiophile card and never had a problem using the spdif on that card. Sounded great! The Motu just doesn't seem to like the signal that my GT8 is putting out. I tried all the different wordclock settings and they all either sound bad or are out of sync. So my spdif connection is useless with this piece of equipment. And I'm not very happy about it. Sounds like the Pods don't like it either.

Hi everyone- hope no one minds me rooting up this thread again  I too am having S/PDIF issues. I had a 828MKII to which i had a Behringer ADA8000 connected via ADAT and slaved via WC. I also then had my SPL Trak One connected via S/PDIF and that s slaved via the S/PDIF cable. Now, with the exact same configuration on my Traveller the S/PDIF connection simply refuses to work properly- i get nasty clicks/pops during recording(only from the channel recording the S/PDIF input) if the Traveller is set to Internal and the Traveller just wont slave to the S/PDIF signal! This has to be a hardware/firmware issue and i am expecting a damn good explanation from MOTU on this one. Otherwise my unit is perfect- no problems with WC or the ADA8000

Did the anyone find a fix??

I too have spdif problems.
Tried with a mpc1000 and a mbox, but none of them could be "accepted" by the traveler. But when I go out from the mpc to the mbox via the same spdif cable it works just fine.

So a faulty spdif connection on the traveler...what to do???

Got this reply (finally!!) this morning:
Hi Stephen,

First try doing a factory reset on this unit. From the Gain Mix window, press the MIX knob once. Use that same knob to scroll to the right until you come to Factory Defaults. Now press the SELECT knob once and then the VALUE knob to complete the reset. You can press the MIX knob to go back to the Gain Mix screen.

Which version of firmware is displayed when the Traveler boots up? The latest is v1.07, which is available to download at http://www.motu.com/download. If you have an older version, make sure you do this update.

Also, you can try testing a different S/PDIF cable. Let me know how that goes.

Just tried this...still no response on the spdif input.
I've installed the latest motu driver package and got 1.07 on the travler.

Thanks for getting through to motu though.
Just hope they could come up with a fix :?

It seems i have found a solution to this problem in my particular setup(but not a technical answer yet). Last week i headed to town and picked up 2 Monster 1 meter S/pdif cables and it seems to have cured the problem completely  I have done a lot of recording since i changed cables and haven't gotten one click or pop. My previous cables were 5 mtrs in length and i couldn't confirm if they were 75ohm cables. Having said that i cant seem to confirm if the particular Monster cables i got are 75 ohm either but i guessed that for the price they must be. You can find a link to the cables below http://www.monstercable.com/europe/engl ... t&pin=1534
Dont blame me if the same thing doesn't work for you, i will be sending Motu a follow up email about this and let them know. I must say too that all you guys(and gals) experiencing this issue should email them too- otherwise they wont bother their arse fixing it if only the odd customer is experiencing it, cheers all
