I think Shooshie is on the right track - if you have an OSC control surface configured, remove it to see if that's what's causing the issue.

How do you have LS set?

I have it (V3) set to allow any connection for both 7.24 and 8.0 on two Macs. As far as I can see, LS only manages outgoing connection, so even though these are allowed, it's not obvious why it would matter to incoming connections. I also have the firewall set to allow DP 7.24 and 8.0 to accept incoming connections on the two Macs as well.

I get the prompt for both versions of DP on the MBP and not on the iMac. Both are on the same versions of all the relevant software.

Same here except my firewall is off on the Mac as I have a hardware firewall in my modem/router.

Thanks. That's it. I turned the firewall off and the prompt from DP disappeared.

(Now I have to figure out why I don't getting the prompt on the iMac which also has the firewall on.)

(Edit: As soon as I turned the Firewall back on, I got the prompt from DP, even though it was already running when I made the change)

Really . . . and you turn it back on and the problem comes back after you've allowed incoming connections for the DP app? Try another firewall if you can.

That's right, and when you turn the firewall back on, you are immediately asked whether applications already running should accept incoming comms.

I also tried removing applications from the list of those allowed to accept comms, and then put them back in the list, and the problem persisted. This does not happen for all applications.

The license manager phones home as it allows you to run on only two computers. If you install on a third, it will disable the first.

Ah... copy protection. That's a good addition to DP but I will miss the chase...

Actually it's not the CIA, it's the CIP and nobody expects the Copyright Infringement Pólīce.

Their main weapon is surprise... Surprise and fear. Their TWO main weapons are surprise, fear and ruthless efficiency. Ummm... Amongst their weaponry are such diverse elements as surprise, fear, ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to software legitimacy. Never mind... I'll come in again!

this sounds like a Codesign problem.. I get it with iTunes from time to time.. I'm not much of a Terminal person much anymore, it leaves you as you leave it.. but as I recall, the command is "codesign -vvv (your application path)".. OS X will reexamine the coding security bits and sign off on DP and you won't get the firewall pop up any more.. you best bet is to google something related to iTunes, codesign and firewall problems.. you'll get a plethora of pages describing the correct procedure for reexamining signed applications. But, of course, I might be wrong. Best to be careful with the Terminal. A reinstalling of DP should fix it as well, as it's examined and signed off on the first time you run it.

Uh... right... except that DP does ask for a network connection unless offline authorization was used. This is used by the license manager to keep authorizations down to two machines at a time.
