...just tried a DP8 re-instal, but it changed nothing....still 50 shades of grey...well 1 actually, but it may as well be 50
To add to the OS/ Graphics debate...I am running 10.7.5 on a 24inch iMac 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo....and Santa needs to get me a new one too Frodo
Looks like it's waiting for MOTU time.....again!

Can't wait for this to be resolved. It's VERY annoying...

Greetings JP:
In the Digital Performer Preferences window under Control Panel, were you not able to de-select the Audio Performance option? Hmm.

Frodo......I was clearly having a "Doh!" moment as... YES I can now uncheck Audio Performance and it at last appears....in all the excitement of the re-instal I forgot to do ALL of the stuff I did first time round....so good news Audio Performace is working...for now....still missing some edit stuff though!
Double good news.... Apple have announced an event on Oct 23rd.....a new iMac perhaps for Christmas....wife willing?

Surely quite a lot of menu items are greyed out until you make a selection??
Cheers

It's true that you have to select something for many of the menu items to become active, but the problem here is that even with something selected, these menus and their key commands just refuse to work. It happens after DP8 has been open for a while, and apparently it gradually loses touch with its commands. There may be a trigger involved, but I haven't found it yet. One thing for sure: if I leave it idle for an hour, say, while I surf the internet, then I come back to DP8, the menus will be grayed out and key commands silent.
Unlike some reports, I never had this problem until DP8.

It's funny to note that while I'm hit by this thing all the time in dp8 32bits I've had a trouble-free session in dp8 64bits all day...
Dunno if it's related but that's my observations for now.

I too see the Audio Performance command grayed out in DP8 for Windows. I just came across this by accident today but I believe the Processing and Playback feature of the command is displayed in the upper right portion of the Control Panel.............Tony

I saw this thread, read my last post in it, and wondered when the heck did THIS happen? Then I looked at the dates and realized it was from 2012, just shy of two years ago. Apparently this has been fixed, as I haven't seen this happen in long enough to have completely forgotten about it! If it's happening to you, try upgrading to the latest version.
