I had the old "Mackie control bundle" in another computer where I have DP7.22, so I just copied that file and replaced the new one in the Audio Plug ins and its working again.

Hey! That worked for the Reverse plugin too! I haven't installed 8 on my laptop so I tried that old version of Reverse on my Desktop rig, with the 8 install, and Tah-Dah! Weird thing is that it has the same Creation Date as the one 8 installed, so I'd assume that its the same plugin, but there you have it. Predictably, you lose Reverse in 8, but at least there's a work around.
So maybe it IS possible to have 7 and 8 both working on one machine. Next up, the Export settings. Hopefully some smart user can crack that nut too and make it possible to access all the export settings in DP7 after installing 8.
Thanks so much delcosmos! …and whomever else might have also suggested this that i ignored.

Whadaya know, I think I may be that smart user.
Following the same logic that restored the Reverse plugin, I replaced the content of the MOTU Audio Export folder on my MacPro, with the 8 install, with the contents of MOTU Audio Export folder of my laptop, with only 7 installed, and all my export and BTD options are back and working in 7! I haven't put 7 through its paces yet, but this appears to be a work-around. I simply keep folders on my desktop that contain either the Audio Export files and Reverse plugin from 7 OR 8 depending on which version of DP I'm NOT using.

Am I understanding this correctly? When you install DP 8, there are files overwritten that DP 7 uses (export setting, at least one plugin, MC files, themes, and possibly others). You rewrite the DP 7 files back using the original older versions, and DP 7 starts working properly. But what happens to DP 8? Does it stop working properly?
(I'm definitely going to use a separate partition for DP 8. 5 days and counting before the arrival of the UPS Canada turnip wagon.)

You got it bayswater. It kills them in 8, hence my two-folder system suggestion: I keep folders on my desktop that contain either the Audio Export files and Reverse plugin from 7 OR 8 depending on which version of DP I'm NOT using.

To simplify things further you can put the 8 Reverse.bundle in a sub-folder and have Reverse available in either 8 or 7. …so you'd only need to swap the export settings when going from 7 to 8 and vice versa.

Well, I'll be using two separate partitions and OS versions for 7 and 8 until I have 8 doing everything I need.

I went back to 7.24 also for a number of reasons.
I used a little app call App Cleaner. Put DP 8 in there and zap it was gone.
I did have to futz with Reverse to get it back.
