Yes, and that's the policy you need to adopt. Little foreign DP8 orphans need you! You must face...

The MOTU provider sells MOTU products to all music stores.

So a reseller to resellers or a MOTU subsidiary? I think the former and it's anybody's guess when they'll get product.

If it ain't ready, MOTU can't afford to ship a crippled piece of software.

... do I hear an aria from a large soprano? I really hope so!

About to go to bed, but my guess is if Radiogal is on to something here, we'll see an announcement on Monday! :headbang:

Of course I just spent a ton on software, but I'll go broke for a 64 bit DP8! now than I have machine that can handle it.

Don't know the definition in English but my definition is the provider imports stuff directly from MOTU USA and is where the warranty issues are handled for my region/country.

RadioGal,
I think the term you're looking for is distributer.
If they are indeed handling all of MOTU's products for the country or region they would have to get accurate advance notice about product availability for import and inventory control.
Since they handle orders, warranty support etc...for their territory they'd have to have accurate information that is beyond a retail store in the USA would be privy to.
it would not be surprising at all to me if indeed they had info about pending releases before vendors here in the States.
This kind of information might actually be easier to keep under wraps here in the USA because if I understand correctly MOTU handles their own distribution here,so it's easier to keep a tight lid on pending release dates, info leaks etc.....

So I do agree, that RG might be on to something.......

So I guess it's about time we start some DP9 threads. ;-)

I think they were waiting for me to get my BMI royalties, which came today, so they could take it :-) I say it will be on sale on Monday.

BMI? Does that stand for "bring money in?"

LOL!

I wish! Or more precisely, never as much as I wish.

Yeah, sometimes it's bring money in, and sometimes they aren't so hot at sending it back out. But I digress... :woohoo:

We really need someone from one of those MacRumors sites who's good at tracking shipments and making guesses as to what's going on. This last time, journalists nailed down the features and release date of the iPhone 5 months in advance. Wish we had that here.

I'm just glad that I love DP 7.2. If I were actually "waiting" for DP8, I'd be a miserable chap right now. Currently, I'm happy if I get to use DP 7.2 for another year. But I know it would look bad on MOTU if it went on that long, so I'm hoping, for their sake, that DP8 comes out in the next few weeks. October's not a bad release month. Let's just hope that they can keep those bug fixes going until the thing works like DP7.0 did when it was released. That's not a bad reputation to uphold!

+1.

Releasing a solid, stable version is much more important than getting it out quick.

My studio assistant is a Windows purist (don't get me started). He is about to run out of patience waiting for DP 8. C'mon MOTU, my guy is hooked on DP from using it in my studio, but he's about to go for some purported Sonar everythings-perfect upgrade.
