I just hope this gets figured out before November rolls around. That's when my WUP dissolves. I find it hard to believe it won't get figured out by then, though.

And to top it all off, the new V9 logo is absolutely horrific.

this all seems weird. want to get this figured out while I still have the WUP coverage.
holding off on updating my waves plug ins till DP and Peak are compatible (my two most used audio programs)
Well I know it's weird, but they DO work as long you never try to remove a plugin. Think of it as a challenge...writing a novel with no eraser.
All my old (and complicated) sequences opened and worked great. I know it's a bummer. DP8 is (allegedly) just around the corner and I'l wager dollars to doughnuts we'll be sorted out then.

So while I agree that they are not officially supported, I upgraded to 9 today. I can confirm that my 8.0 iLok license remains intact. the new license are transferred from the new cloud based system to my HD. DP 7.24 scanned all the plugins that i use GOLD and Ren Maxx and L3. I was able to open up and play a few DP projects that had 20+ Waves plugins on them. Now i don't recommend doing this if these are critical $$ making sessions.. Just an FYI that the 9.0 plugs are working in DP 7.24 in very limited tests. YMMV

Instantiation works.
Opening old projects created with waves old v8 plugs works (gui, sound, automation, everything.)
Removal of v9 plug results in freeze and crash.
The crash only occurs here when the plug UI window is open. Close it first, then switching plugs works without crash.

Holy crap that dude is right. You can remove plugins by highlighting and hitting "command B"
This should definitely hold me over until DP8.
If you close a waves plug while its GUI is open it's crash city. I tried to read the crash log to see what happened. Hard to tell...apparently some stripper named "Cocoa" was involved. The name was everywhere.

I just meant close the plug window (click the red x or cmd-W when the window has focus). But hey, if cmd-B works also - more options. Actually works better if the plug is open and behind something.
Edit: DP is way more prone to crashing with Waves 9 - not worth it until fixed on one side or the other.

Hey guys, expected the worst. So far so good here. I always have a backup of my system, if I need to revert I can. Will keep you posted. I have the Gold bundle, Ren, Musicians 1+2 and a few singles. DP 7.24 Will try these in Bias Peak

You can also use the Delete key.

Waves9 are on cocoa, DP7 is not, DP8 should be.
That's why Waves doesn't support DP7.

DP8 is 100% Cocoa code and 64-bit capable, so it should fix any arguments with Waves 9.

Not Waves version 8 or 9, but certainly version 7 is fully supported.
Are there many advantages of Waves version 8 or 9 VS version 7? Unless I'm missing something big, there aren't any for the same set of given plugs...

Waves version 8 is completely compatible with DP 7.xx.

Bizare, i just got the email from Waves this morning, here's what it says:
"Waves V9 does not yet support SoundGrid, MultiRack Native, and Venue platforms. Support for these platforms will be announced soon."
No mention of DP. Strange because, as low percentage userbase as DP has, I'm sure it's magnitudes higher than those.
BTW: What's really a pie in the eye is the fact that the whole "Mixing By the Bundle" series is done completely on DP7, as is much of the screen shots on the Waves website. Which means they're incompatable with their own demo DAW!
The more I think about it, the more I think this problem will be dealt with fairly quickly. There are so many workarounds to the crash bug that I can only think it's a fairly specific bit of code, and probably fairly easy to find, seeing as though it's only triggered by very specific actions. They've been heavily pushing "Mixing by the Bundle", and it would be a real black eye for them to let DP go unsupported for too long.

Waves 9 introduces some strange instability in DP. Sometimes the delete plug doesn't crash it - other times it does. If you leave a Waves window open when you close a session, sometimes DP crashes when you reopen the session. Sometimes it just crashes. And the award goes to DP crashed in the background when I closed my browser - never saw anything like that. My system was rock solid prior to upgrading to 9.
