I had exactly the same problem on my 828 MkIII, spent several hours on it and found out at least the solution that works for me: play with the 'Sample Per Buffer' from the Motu Audio Console.

In my case, when selecting 96 Khz and S/PDIF as Master Clock Source, the default buffer size was set automatically to 1024. I didn't notice it.
The CueMix input meters were inactive and my DAW couldn't record anything.
By simply manually switching from 1024 to 2048, Bingo! It works now!

had the same problem.
Everything worked fine out of the box.
Took my UltraLitemk3 hybrid with me to a rehearsal, used it as a standalone mixer; edited some reverb amount..
Back home connected it (USB).. no meters... everything else worked fine.
.besides: the input level in my DAW (Cubase) was much lower.
Read all the posts here.. tried to change sample buffer/rate and so on..
Restarted my PC!!! No luck.. so I prepared for the reinstall solution on next day after I tried the changing sample rate suggestion and some more..
Next day switched on my PC again:
Everything worked like expected and like before.
SO.. I didn't change anything, a restart of my PC didn't help.
Just switching off my PC and start it the next day did the trick.
Also... this time I switched on my mk3 before I turned on my PC.. not sure if this made the difference...

Means I can confirm that this problem exists (on my Windows PC and as I read also on Mac OS.. that's why I post it here because this was the first thread I found when searching the internet)
..and hope this helps somebody before he does the reinstall procedure..

Hello internet strangers. Windows 10, R3AP3R.

I had the same problem: meters weren't showing on CueMix or my DAW, but were showing on my LCD display.

Restarted Ultralite, nothing.
Restarted DAW, nothing.
Restarted computer, everything works.
