Post by kgdrum »

Yeah I tried calling a few times and got the messages are full as well.
Steven seems to be addressing user issues through postings on GS , if that helps.

Have you had any issues with the memory requirements or default settings for Evil?
It's annoying, it's my favorite and of course it's the only one I have issues with! lol

Have not noticed anything. What is happening with you, specifically?

One note is that I have not hosted SD2 in DP for a long, long time as it is a troublemaker causing DP to crash regularly. It has been problem free hosting it in VE Pro, especially after Toontrack made it 64 bit.

Toontrack support has been 1st class all the way in trying to help solve this for me.
Evil is my favorite, I hope DP8 64bit alleviates the resource demands Evil now brings to DP.
Evil Drums does have a large load memory. If I remember correctly it loads more layers by default. I think if you just drop the Layer Limits to Low (a pulldown menu appears there over the numerical values) you should see the memory profile drop instantaneously and the load on your drive and cpu should be lighter overall. Just one pulldown command, easy enough to do after a default patch starts loading.

Yeah I figured that out, I was talking to Toontrack about it , one more reason to look forward to our DP8 64bit future!

I upgraded to 4, after only having 3.5 for a short time. While it isn't perfect, I think it is a great start. I got a email from him today saying several fixes are coming soon.

I loaded everything up yesterday - after some confusion - and it is indeed a hog. But sounds good. No effects though - that was interesting. So you'll have to lay it out in DP with auxes. But they need to fix that cause when you load a new preset you lose the layout. Not having led's on the mixer makes it difficult to know which fader to adjust. Hopefully they'll be fixing these things. I think the toms are unusable but the BD and snares are nice. I mix and match with all my drum choices.

SD2 has an insanely awesome interface/mixer/effects and is a great way to expand on your EZDrummer libraries, but it definitely has usability issues, depending in which presets you load. Unfortunately, I'm not a huge fan of the Avatar kit, though using it with the Steven Slate producer presets usually makes it work for me. You can always try just turning off the drums you don't use, like half of those cymbals ...

It's a shame because they have made some great libraries.
Clearly, you must have never dealt with Native Instruments...bogus-ness of support is second to none.

SSD 4 is cool, he did mention a number of times that this is a pre-release, and features are being worked on daily. I don't think I will be uninstalling my kontakt library for 3.5 just yet, but i'm really happy with 4 platinum and the sounds...the sounds man...

Well I'm glad to hear that a couple of you are liking the upgrade.
I have faith that S.S. will work out the kinks in 4.
Their other plugs are great and work so far without a hitch.
FG-X is a CPU hog but sounds really great.

Excuse me?
I happen to like NI support they are very good, via phone.
I've been using NI for years started with the 1st Kontakt, I still use all of my older EW pre-PLAY VI's in Kontakt 5
I have Komplete 5,6,7 & 8U
So I think I've dealt with NI, at least if they drop support on a product they admit it, EW just keeps making excuses.
I prefer NI and I think there are many users who wish EW had stayed with Kontakt based libraries, I choose not to use PLAY! lol

NI's tech support on the phone has been good for me too.

I'm just going through my pile of unresolved problems tonight (first time in six months) to close them out one by one, and in case anyone else finds this thread while searching for problems, just wanted to summarize that the most recent SSD4 update solved my authorization problems.
