Don't need to. Just run some other Daws on the same machine
Yeah..I do that.
Have Logic Express, and Protools Le.
Yep they just ZIP! along.
Protools is scrolling like...oh wait, it just crapped out
after a much lower track count/VI usage then anything
DP could ever muster up.
Now Logic is certainly faster/better VI usage
then DP I'll grant you that.
Though not by as much as everybody seems to think.
At least not in my experience.

Publish to Finale or Sibelius, so that one can compose in DP but instantly see the results in a world-class notation program.

They are not going to do a PDF user manual because it encourages piracy (at least that's what I was told when I spoke to them about this issue over a year ago).

r.
I wish this would be possible.

From the help feature in DP:
'Audio plug-ins
'The Audio Plug-ins sub menu (in the Audio menu) holds non-real-time versions of your MAS, AU and RTAS plug-ins, allowing you to apply them constructively as region operations on audio selected in any window.
'Audio plug-ins applied as region operations can be previewed before you apply the effect. When you click the Preview button, the currently selected region loops continuously until you click the Stop button (or click anywhere outside the effect window). Parameter adjustments can be heard in real time as you change them. A preroll and postroll amount can be added to the beginning and end of the currently selected region for previewing purposes.'

These are the plug ins I'm talking about....

how about a Master Fader/Aux Fader(s) for *MIDI* tracks? would function just the same as the one(s) for Audio tracks. A great way to lower/raise overall volumne and make smooth fades.
Along the same lines I think 90 MM fader lengths or longer more precise faders selectably available like 'wide-narrow', add: 'short- long'.

Now that's a great idea. I affirm that 100%!
Here's what cracks me up though about all these great, "new" ideas - wouldn't it just be great to have a DAW that's current features WORK? I mean really - we've got this wish list and yet so much of what is currently "available" doesn't even work.
Shoot, I'd just settle for no processor spikes. I don't need more TOYS, I need professional TOOLS that work reliably. As with any tool, you learn to work with what you've got and DP is very capable, though it doesn't have everything. But dependability and robustness is what makes something professional grade. I need a "pro tool." Pun intended.

When you add a marker using the key command, I'd like to have a window pop up automatically that lets you re-name the marker. I saw this in ProTools LE, and it made the tracking session go much easier. I can't believe DP doesn't have this.
Would also like to be able to drag markers in the ruler in the SE without having to open the Conductor track.

I'd like a feature the that is similar to that of (dare I say it?) Logic and Cubase which allows folders within the tracks window, just to make your workspace more orderly. Though the ability to select which tracks are visible in the sequence and mixing windows is a superb feature, and almost compensates for the lack of the folder option. Also a vertical zoom perhaps in the same window?

Custom coulering for markers would be cool and between this 2 markers all selections and soundbites go to the couler of that marker .
You could turn that on and off , would be great for arranging

A "make beats from MIDI notes" function; If I want to create a tempo map from MIDI tapping, I currently have to tap in real time and hope I get it right. In Studio Vision I could record MIDI clicks and then edit them until they were perfectly in time, then generate tempo from them...(I often need to create tempos from audio tracks (and not ones with an obvious beat)

Typical...piracy often seems to get more attention than the needs of the users. If they insist on a printed manual, at least an index that actually allows me to find the right page! I have spent hours trying to find things only to realize that the index is wrong.

Just scanning this list, I do see a lot of items requested that are already there. No time right now to explain it all, but if some of you might go over the list maybe we could have a thread of "requested features that already exist."
