Thank you Paul! What you posted was inotially not working, but then:
* I did a reset to the sound card by pressing VOL and PHONES knobs simultaneously
* Pressed the PHONES knob until +main led is blinking
* Adjusted the computer output from the PHONES knob at last! :)

Case solved for now, although i don't know why I needed to reset the sound card first... I hope it keeps on working!

I know this thread is old but I just had the same problem on my Macbok Pro with my ultralite mk3. Finally figured it out. Didn't see an answer here so figured i'd post. You have to go to Audio/MIDI Setup in Utilities, bring up the auido section, then right click (option click) the device and click configure. Then check 'Enable Core Audio Volume Controls'. All is then right with the world.
