Seriously? Damn. I must have fallen asleep during that section of the manual. Thanks - I'll look into it.Tim wrote:Set Event Chasingcowtothesky wrote: I would like to see the tracks automatically read the last volume, automation, etc information and update it when you skip around.

Yeah, but I've never read it.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:There's a manual?
That's how intuitive DP is (to me).
The Menus, Preferences, and Commands list contain the nuts and bolts.

Re: DP8 Quick Poll
DP7 is close to perfection, IMO. Sure, there are always little interface features that could be useful, or new bundled plugins that rock our little world, but we grow to use what we have, and those little wish-list things, we've probably already compansated for with other techniques.
The one huge exception being drum mapping. That ••••'s broke. I tend to like to experiment a lot with drumkits and setups. One track might use a stripped down jazz set with brushes, the next might be a 16-piece heavy metal powerhouse. I never use the same exact setup twice. And for that, DPs drum mapping system is HORRIFIC. I end up with 10 MIDI device groups in on project file, with names that don't corrispond to my tracks (and shouldn't), are limitted in functionality, and take forever to setup. Not to mention, DP isn't compatible with any of the drum mapping presets that VI manufacturers put out, so you always have to do it yourself and start from scratch. Let's face it, that whole system is broke. The drum editor itself is just fine though.
Unfortunately, it would probably take a fairly large overhaul to correct this, and it might put previous projects in jepordy. It's been broken for so long, I have my doubts that MOTU has any interest in correcting it.

Did you just say fap-jackery? Now, who'd want to imitate that?MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Perhaps imitation is the highest form of flap-jackery?
