It may be that the 6-core vs. 8-core debate balances out, all things considered.

If so, the best decision would be based on future-proofing as well as the economics of the two decisions. With the 8-core, at least, buying a used 2009 model is a possibility.

Apple's Activity Monitor Utility shows core usage and is much preferred over the one in DP. Have fun you new 6- and 8-core folks!
