Ahhh right I get you. So basically need a Mac pre-2006 to run the file... Is there any way to do a firmware upgrade with a modern day mac?
I see G4s on Craigslist for $25–$50 or so.

I've successfully updated my 828 mk2 firmware from 1.00 to 1.01 using the following environment.
- `DownloadFlash` and `828Mk2_1.01.bin` downloaded from
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B2Z-8L ... ZGNh&hl=en
- Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard installed with Rosetta
Note:
+ Rosetta is required to run `DownloadFlash` program on an Intel Mac.
+ Mac OS X 10.6.8 is the last Mac OS release that supports Rosetta for Intel Mac.
- Mac mini (Late 2009)

Same here,
The instructions are still valid after all these years. I used also Snow Leopard, but I installed it to a "Hackintosh". (A 2012 Intel i7 "Haswell") - bit hacking to get it installed, but no issues at all with the PCI FW card and the firmware upgrading. I guess I'll try to install old Digital Performer to it, to have bit of a flashback.
