Hey,
I caught the presentation today at the NAMM show and if i heard correctly it is to be 64 bit for both mac and pc. A lot of cool new features and the guitar player was monitoring the guitar effects while recording. Can you do that now??
Anyhow a big upgrade also for Ethnic 2.

OK maybe he was showing B.P.M. and saying it was 64 bit ready or maybe it was Ethno 2??
Something Motu makes is definitely 64 bit pc ready.
I guess that doesn't help much.
I think I might have a little A.D.D. going on or maybe a slight early onset of Alzheimer's??

Anyhow I was impressed, I know that.
Everytime you click on a track to view in the graphic editor you can make D.P. bring up the same track on its own in the mixer window at the same time. Or you can lock that one track in the mixer and not have it change along with the track you're working on in the graphic editor window.

No, it will still be Mac only.

I did ask Magic Dave if 7.1 will work on PPC and Tiger and he
said yes, absolutely.

Don't quote me, but my guess is that it will ship within a couple of months (maybe much less).

Hey Scooter:

If you're still roaming the hard concrete floors in Anaheim over the next couple of days, could you just do a confirmation for us as to what it was exactly MOTU was rolling out in 64-bit, even it is for PC only? Thanks. That MOTU is doing anything at all right now in 64-bit is newsworthy.

Oh, and I hope you have comfortable shoes!

Frodo,

This is from the MOTU website and probably part of what I heard today:

64-bit Windows drivers for all current MOTU audio and MIDI interfaces are now shipping and available for download

Seems like folks are a little more excited about 64 bit DP than they was letting on... that's all good, though, I can't wait for 64 bit DP. I think it'll be rock solid.

I'm also pretty sure it'll be Intel only, but for you folks on PPC, it would be awesome to have a 64 bit pro app actually on the G5, so you could use all 8 GBs of RAM. I gave up, and went to Intel.

No no. This is how bad rumors get started. That was when Magic Dave said their "firewire and USB audio device drivers would be 64bit for both windows and MAC." NOT DP.

DP7.1 is and will always be MAC only...and there was no 64bit mention for DP.

Many of the features talked about for DP 7.1 were:

(In no particular order)
- It will be a free update
- New ways to edit and use track folders including overview of what is inside even when it is closed. Drag and drop things into the track folder easily.
-Effect Chain plug-in presets. You can now save a chain of effects plug on a track as a pre-set and pull that up easily if duplicating a track. Say you always have the same plug-ins on a Guitar track...or a master track. Save that chain as an insert preset and then load it all in one click.
-There are new automation editing tools. Many of them I see my Pro Tools friends using for years and now DP finally has them too. hard to explain exactly which tools. One is a new trim tool. highlight a section and increase or decrease trim in the highlighted section only. Can scale automation throughout a section as well. But there are more tools now and they are great.
-Hold the cmd key while moving a fader and that fader instantly moves with "fine" resolution. So you can get even more details with the automation movement.
-Autocheck for DP updates. So you can stay up to date automatically if you desire...or at least know when an update is available right away
-Auto-Save. You can set it work however you want in the preferences. but it can auto-save at certain intervals. Or even auto-save an incremental copy of everything in another location. However you want.
-New guitar amps
-Transpose chord symbols in score editor.
-copy paste lyrics from any text document into DP score editor. In lead sheet view...will automatically populate words to notes. can easily move or reposition by dragging word or note to make it look legible if auto format does not.
Regards,

Brian Ralston
