Re: New FW/USB Drivers
The MOTU FireWire and USB Audio Driver Installer for Mac OS X Audio Installer 1.5.37320.zip has are no good on the new iMac 21.5 3Ghz. I get the grey screen crash. Have to unplug firewire and restart. Where can I download the old FW driver?
AVOID FW 1.5.3, it's terrible.

Re: New FW/USB Drivers
Can you post the url where you found them? I've googled and not found them. I've got a new 828 Mk3 arriving Monday, and I'm going to need the old drivers if they ship it with the latest versions.jasedee wrote:Searched for older MOTU MIDI/USB drivers (the google comes good again). Re: New FW/USB Drivers
I too am also having the exact problem listed here.
My system is Intel, so, it's not just PPC. It seems to be something with the 828 (mk 1). I have two of them and can not turn them on without getting the grey screen and having to manually reboot with them turned off.

Re: New FW/USB Drivers
MOTU told me to use this one instead.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/motu/downloads/ ... 1.4.23.zip
I've confirmed that this one works fine OSX 10.6.2 and 828 (mk I) and DP 7.02u
Hopefully, they'll have the first 828s on the next 1.5 release.

My new 828 Mk 3 arrived today. The drivers on the installation CD didn't work on Intel 10.6.2, but this driver did. Thanks for the link.primeevolutionary wrote:MOTU told me to use this one instead.

Re: New FW/USB Drivers
My pleasure.
I'm surprised that the new driver didn't work on the Mk III. I thought it was only Mk I.

Re: New FW/USB Drivers
The problem that people are describing affects original 828s only. If you have any other MOTU FireWire or USB interface, you should probably be using the current driver version (1.5.37320).
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

Any word from MOTU acknowledging the faulty drivers or a plan to upload new drivers?

MOTU did tell me that they are hoping to address this in a future update.

Admitting it in private and posting a tech issue on the web site are two entirely different things. Not posting that some may have a problem, describing the problem and then a link to the old drivers is irresponsible.
The latest Tech Note for the 828 is dated 10/2006

Re: New FW/USB Drivers
MOTU doesn't really have a history of posting problems or saying what's been fixed in an update.

Re: New FW/USB Drivers
Hi,
I have been having similar problems to those mentionned above, ie; I downloaded the latest MOTU driver (I have a 828 mk1), the MOTU_Audio_Installer-1.5.37320.zip, installed it and my computer went crazy at powering on. I tried desinstalling all drivers, re-installing older ones, the MOTU 828 is now undetected.
I have tried installing first the MOTU Audio Installer (1.4.5 and) and then installing the FW 1.2.5. While installing the latter, it comes to a point when I get a warning window: "System extension can't be used: the system extension "MOTU MIDI Driver.kext" hasn't been installed correctly and can't be used. Try re-install it or call your seller for an update." Same goes with extension "MOTU FireWire Audio.kext".
The thing is, after installing MOTU Audio Installer, I can clearly see the 2 extension files there, at the right place "/System/Library/Extensions/...".
I spent all day installing, uninstalling, I'm kind of getting lost now, with what update versions to use and what to do.
I have tried the MOTU Audio Installer 1.4.1, 1.4.3, 1.4.5, 1.4.9... followed by FW 1.2.5 with no results.
Any solutions?
I have a MacBook 2 GHz Intel Core Duo running OSX 10.6.2 with a MOTU 828 (original Mk1).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
