I'm probably in worse financial shape than most, for the very reason that I keep buying new toys to make music with. But I can't pass on offers like this, because I know I will get some good use out of the content for numerous projects I have on the go.

But yeah. Being a software junkie is not an easy path to follow. I don't have a wife or family, so I don't have the pressures of that kind of responsibility/accountability. If I want to dig myself into a financial hole, I am perfectly welcome to do so... but at least I'll be playing some cool drums while I starve myself with food rationing. ;-)

I joined just as the group buy hit 200 and thought it was a good deal then, $99, that's a nice meal and a good bottle of wine for you and your date, or a huge collection of drum kits. I already have OWD kits 6, 11 and 12 plus some Drum Masters 1 kits. I've used them a lot. I also have Superior 2 and love it as well. Are these kits from the group buy perfect for me or you?? Well, I know at some point over the next year at the very least 50% will end up in a production somewhere, that's $45. And having the ability to build my own custom kits from all of these is extremely appealing to me.

Except for FM, who would have to dine solo.

(That's an inside joke, with the warmest of affections.)

It is still coming after a long delay. Squids' has promised some extra stuff for all participants of that GB to make up for the extended wait

I think it will be coming out when SampleTank 3 (which is under development) is released in 2010.

zed wrote:In any case, there are just 24 more hours to go. It is looking like we are already getting another 2 bonus kits in anticipation of hitting 600, since Squids talked about adding the content to the delivery packages.
The 2 extra kits are now guaranteed. A third one (which I like very much) will be added if we can get GB parcipitants up to 650... but there are only 7 hours to go....

The first phase of the content is supposed to posted late tonight or first thing in the morning.

I didn't have a chance last night to check the details of this group buy due to my ongoing nightmare with Steinberg's eLicenser (formerly Synchrosoft).

What does the $99 buy? I might bother with it, if it includes a subset of Ocean Way Drums, as a cheap introduction to those kits. I still prefer the BFD approach to presenting drums (and their detailed documentation of kit pieces!), but at $99 it's worth trying out Ocean Way (which sounds great in demos, but in use might be another story).

My impression from the initial email was that it was mostly a group buy for loops, refills, and the like.

Nope, these are kits and you can give them a listen at esoundz.com. At $99 it's a no-brainer and I think you'll like the variety of both OWD and Drum Masters. Zed posted the kits earlier in this thread, have a look and then go and listen.

Yeah. Check out the previous page of this thread. You get all that stuff I listed plus an additional 2 kits, just confirmed this morning.

AND... if you are interested in Ocean Way Drums you will love this, because this is the first time those Ocean Way Drums have been sold with scripting which provides Round Robining and control of the articulations included. Essentially, the playability of these versions of the OWD kits is going to be better and provide even more realistic results.

Also, I do believe that Squids hand-picked almost all of the best OWD kits. There are a couple others I would like to have, but of the 13 which are included, they are probably among the 15 best kits in complete OWD collection.

Superior offers the round robin feature, and there are times when I've had to turn it off. Sometimes it will sound to me like a drummer who can't hit the drums the same way twice, and I find it to be more noticeable on certain sounds. I was using sidestick on one track and it sounded like I was playing ping pong. Every other note was a different pitch. :D Same thing happens with the ride bell.
EXCELLENT point... it sounds fine on the "all over the place stuff" but when you just want that rock solid clock... the pitches aren't solid enough. but you have to agree... for the real balls to the walls stuff it's very effective if you don't have a real drummer @ your disposal for those quick ideas.
