1- On the sequence editor display only the track(s) that you want to comp. This is a very important step because you want to do the selections on the time ruler instead of on the soundbites themselves, so tat the same selection is maintained as you switch takes.

I do this also, but with a twist...using the time ruler, I first edit all vocal phrases into chunks and then using the lyric sheet I listen to each track and make up my mind which chunks to use, then drop them onto a new track, it allows me to keep track of what I used in case I need to make changes...4 minute song, 4 vocals= 16 minutes and I'm done (give or take)

Thanks everyone for your slant on comping. I will explore all ideas in an effort to streamline my work habits.
