I'm sure you do have better things to do. But I have to say that I was surprised by your lack of manners and judgment. Have you ever seen me post anything against the rules before? You're post would have been appropriate for someone you've already warned once or twice.

Respect goes both ways.
Great. So we're gonna do this here, huh Neal?

What I was trying to say, and I'll make it clear so it's understood in the future: I don't have time to run down posts like this and go see videos to see if it violates the no-politics policy. Do you expect that I *should* do this? So if there's a post made that says "My Music Video about [INSERT GOVERNMENT AGENCY HERE], just what should I do, Neal? Go follow the link to investigate that something that sounds by its very name to be likely political ISN'T? I don't have time for that. I suppose I could just delete it as well. But posting it makes work for me.

You've definitely understood that there's a no politics rule here. So just what did you think your posting a message called this would do for me? I guess you assumed I would have to go watch it, and spend time to figure out that Neals' video that sounds like it's political isn't and therefore should stay. Again, I don't have time for this sort of forensic topic refereeing.

In the future, since I value my time I'll simply delete a thread that even sounds like it may be political and that will make less work for me and I like that idea. I'll start implementing this policy later this evening.

As for your opinion of the appropriateness of my post, I think a post that on the face of it seems so flagrantly against a longstanding rule warranted it. I mean I really just wonder aloud if anybody was paying attention to that rule. Again, what did you think when you posted it? Did you think, "It sounds political, but James will spend time to go watch the video and make sure it's not political." I can't do this all the time. So, as I said, fairest policy given my time constraints is to simply delete a post that even sounds political. That'll fix that.

James.

I actually did not know that rule. But when it was pointed out, as you can clearly see, I had no problem with it.
I've been trying to find the rules here since yesterday and can't find them anywhere. But if this is like most forums, I assume you've got some rule about being freindly or courteous to others. Your reaction right out of the gate, was neither.

I've posted over 200 posts here and never broke any rules intentionally or otherwise. So to come off treating me as someone who just doesn't give a s**t is uncalled for.

My problem is not and never has been with the rules.

I have not yet typed up and made a "list of rules" that can be found when you click a link, etc. The rule about no politics and religion is in the description of the OT forum on the main board index:
The forum for petitions, theoretical discussion, gripes, or other matters outside deemed outside the scope of helping users make optimal use of MOTU hardware and software. Posts in other forums may be moved here at the moderators discretion. No politics or religion!
It's also been sort referred to by word of mouth quite a bit here and most people know about it if they've been here any length of time. When I find the time where I don't wish to work on music, I'll type up an official board rules document to avoid this problem... or at least attempt to. But all I can say is the "no politics or religion" admonition is in the forum description as I said.

Gee guys, I feel a little to blame here. As a long time member of the board I should have stepped in and said more (in my first post) about the no politics rule. I just assumed Neal was aware. If I had suggested changing the title this could have all been avoided - sorry you guys are having words. I should have spoken up.

Not your fault, Phil. Just a misunderstanding.

I have no problems with rules, as I said. But I have a big problem with someone suggesting I KNEW the rule and intentionally decided to break them.
This assuming one's guilt without taking the trouble to find out the facts is a small example of a mind set that has plagued mankind forever. I just don't usually see that or expect that from artists.

And now, I too, am busy with the business of music. So why don't we let it rest.

Hey guys,

I'm a new member here and thank GOD I found this site...I don't know what kind of gutter I'd be lying in if I didn't have so many talented cohorts to talk tech with :)

Anyhow, i am a member of this other great recording forum (http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/) which has a whole board called "The Saloon" which is for politics, religion, etc. Maybe this is the answer here, since clearly many of us musicians/producers have strong beliefs when it comes to how our lives are run.

The link that Neal put up originally has been deleted, so I don't know what the music video was about, but i have very strong feelings myself about the federal reserve and our fiat money system, and it would be great to have a place where DP users could talk about this stuff.

Just sayin'.

Welcome to the MOTUNATION. You make my point for me. There are plenty of places to debate politics or religion and that's emphatically NOT the purpose of this board.
