Re: Is Trilogy History? Who's to blame?

Not familiar with RAX. Is that another pluggin? If so, I'd rather wait for the upgrade - assuming it's coming.

That works but brings in a host of other problems - i.e. you'll notice your MIDI volume pedal won't work anymore with Omnisphere and some of the MOTU instrument plug-ins i.e.MachFive 2 etc. Tech at MOTU said he was glad I them aware of it. Had the same problem with the East West Play (Plat Orch) plug-in before they fixed it with a recent update. It seems like a simple fix for Spectrasonics - you can see the VI is getting MIDI. RMX still works fine in 5. How can the relationship between them and the developers of the player have gotten so bad that they can't develop a patch for Trilogy, etc. And on the other hand, why should they need one when some of the MOTU plug ins have the same problems. To me it seems that the problem lies in sharing system files between DP5 & 6. I gave up trying to use Trilogy for much, after I noticed the East West Ministry Of Rock library had some nice enough bass instruments. (No upright though.) Hopefully just temporary - I'm sure Eric P. will have things in order this NAMM. A bit of money to be made there I suppose. Otherwise, I guess I'll be putting my Trilogy instrument out with my DX-7, and Oberheim DMX.hammerman wrote:I'm in the same boat Neal and you CAN get it to work. Here's how:
Replace the MAS AudioUnit Support Bundle from version 1.7.0. to 1.6.1 (the one that installs with DP5). Hard Drive/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/MAS
You may need to reinstall DP5 to get that file. You do lose the ability to pre-render VI's.
It's working for me. Spectrasonics is not dropping Trilogy BTW. They will come out with a new version with their own sound engine (STEAM) like Atmosphere to Omnisphere.
When?
We can only wait for THAT answer.......................................
Indeed! As you might know, I've chosen to avoid them altogether, such has been my sad history of gear trouble's combined disincentive with the vaporous, seemingly voodoo-like shenanigans that from where I sit seem to characterise the art of getting these new-fangled and apparently-rushed-to-market doobywhackies to play ball. Ha! Same here! At least I'll only have to deal with one company though, as it's MOTU and Mac all the way for the Monkster. LOLmiditime wrote:Can't wait for MOTU to get it together. Even if they did DP7 is sure to have the same bugs as 6. (And I won't mind.)
MOR's basses are great, and unlike their guitar patches, they're consistent from instrument to instrument, so if you change your mind about using a Fender Jazz bass and decide to use a Kubicki bass instead, you don't have to reprogram your bass track to reflect the decision. The only problem I have with the bass sounds is that you're pretty much tied to the two amps they were recorded through, without a DI version of the sound for an option to put it through your own bass amp software, like IK's Ampeg.miditime wrote:I gave up trying to use Trilogy for much, after I noticed the East West Ministry Of Rock library had some nice enough bass instruments. You have to run DP in "MIDI only" mode and then disable or delete the old Trilogy. I've had to do this with supposed working VIs in DP 6X when things won't open (which happens far too often).NealF wrote:Here's a new problem.
If you need to open an old file that has Trilogy enabled, all you'll get is the beach ball and a crash. So how do you get that old file open?
So many problems, so little time.
