hi,

i have problem @ msi pr200 notebook with firewireexpresscard adapter.

firewire expresscard installs fine.
when i connect the motu to the expresscard and turn on the motu 828mk3
then i get a yellow exclamation mark in devicemanager with >> code 12 <<
first it seems that it`s a bios problem.

but all my other gear works (fw hdd, fw realtime camcorder capture, focusrite liquid mix and so on)

after 120 reboots and all possible test szenarios the msi support team in taiwan wrote me that the motu want`s to many resources.

mail from msi taiwan.
About reboot or ac remove, it is quite normal because after a reboot the
devices priority would change and the system would reallocate the system
resource. (arrange more resource for the audio interface device)
Our problem is why the audio interface requests more resources than the
ExpressCard already occupied.

To sum up,
If you got an error code 12 with the PCI ExpressCard only, it might a BIOS
issue.
However, if you got the error code when you connect the audio interface,
this usually means the memory, I/O, or prefetch is more than what the
ExpressCard has allocated in the Driver. Maybe, you need a driver solution to get more resource.

today i`ll send this to the motu support team and hope to get response soon.

greets chris

@ all
please also do as many different tests as you can (eg turn on motu, connect motu to firewire port > wait 1-2 minutes and then start the pc. + check if it works for you now) send testresults to motu techsupport!!

I tried now to switch on MOTU two minutes before switching on my PC but it doesn't work (maybe it was the only test I didn't make in last 3 weeks.....); I have Error Code 10 (not 12) in my situation and I use a desktop computer (not notebook). MOTU tech support told me again to test using a Firewire card with a TI chipset........

it seems that motu does not proper test their products.

until today i`ve not seen any customer which got it running without problems with expresscard.

i`m also in contact with my notebook vendor since 3 month now. yesterday i`ve got the info from them that they think (99%) that the 828mk3 is the problem.

because: fw expresscard works with all gear (fw hdd, fw camcorder, focusrite liquidmix and so on)
only the 828mk3 does not work.

@ recorder

have you also disconnected your desktop powercord in you last test?
eg. disconnect power supply + wait 5-10 mins. (don`t remove bios battery!)
connect motu. connect pc power cord. turn on motu. (wait until motu is fully started)
start pc. (that way it works with my notebook + expresscard.)

I solved but i sold! I solved my problem trying a factory reset again. I made one just some weeks ago but it didn't work. At second attempt suddenly Windows configured Wave driver correctly and it seemed OK, but I were not able to adjust all levels in a good way.... another problem to solve. No! Stop! I sold my 828mk3 3 days ago and...... well, maybe this is not right place but I say you I bought RME Fireface 800. Yes!!! It is very simple to setup, a standard Windows' wizard installed and configured all drivers immediately and at first reboot I had my interface perfectly working. No problem to setup levels, MIDI is OK without any other setting, no latency...... well, another world! Believe me! Bye bye MOTU, 828mk3 was not a product for me.
