Aha!! I used to live in Kings Langley, and then in Letchworth. Now I'm between Box and Chippenham in Wiltshire.

Anyway, Musictrack also told me that DP6 is on its way... hopefully next week, I have a quiet time at the moment, so would be a perfect investigate.

kind regards
Stephen

Clever man, but I fear he's only helping to build the house of cards that I see much of modern science becoming. It seems to me we're becoming too "clever" for our own good. I'm a facts-on-the-ground guy, as everyone knows by now, and I'm cautious to say the least about placing any faith in theories which are built upon theories which are built upon theories...
Bottom line here though is that as much as I'd like to, we're not permitted to discuss this anymore it seems, as every time I spill a few beans I get accused of sounding religious as my personal research of the past several decades has pointed in no uncertain terms to a universe of decaying design, not chance. Hopefully I won't get jumped on for saying that; you deserved at least as much, but I fear the gestapo will be all over me like a rash so that's all I'll say out of respect for all.

Smart man? Yes. Correct? Uncertain to say the least, IMHO.
Ah ok I understand your previous comment better now. Although I’m not sure I agree with you in total, Hawking IS guilty of saying “We NEARLY have the unified theory” just a little too often!

Thank you for trying to understand my POV, Tyrone. In my experience, it takes many hours' "work" in the real world before folks understand; as Yoda or Don Juan might've said, "You must unlearn what you have learned". This means tackling a wide range of theories and assumptions unfortunately.

Time to bite the lip again, I'm afraid. Thank you again for being the champ you are man.

Speaking of DP6, your good news may well signal its arrival in Aus early next week if it hasn't already done so today, Tyrone. Great stuff man. Thank you for letting us know.
Hey brother, I bought my upgrade at sweetwater.com and they send it right away, why don't you try that???

Hey there Tonio. I appreciate the thought, but I can't buy online, and am quite happy with that. For one thing, it helps me slowly save for gear without shooting myself in the foot with whimsical/impulsive purchases. I'll bet that's one reason why I've managed to avoid 3rd party plugs and VIs so far whilst I wait patiently for DP to provide a bunch more than it does today.

C'mon MOTU...

Yeah, I received mine this morning and it is disappointing that there's no box, especially as the manual is so big! Anyway on first impressions I'm not sure what to think yet. Some good stuff and bad. Can't even get a highlighted selection to play yet although scrub and 'Play Selection' from menu appear to work. 5.13 wasn't always stable for me but I might be going back to it - I'm suffering from snow blindness already!

No problems, MM :) I just wish my Maths/Physics was up to understanding any of the theories!

Now that’s just not fair. I’m Wiltshire too, and haven’t received a thing. :(

Hello! I'm a UK switcher from Logic and I got my copy of DP6 this morning!

I've been lurking here for a while and it's one of the major reasons I've gone for DP. So, thanks! :D

Hey welcome

you know? I come from Protools myself and I didn't know what DAW to go between Logic and DP, A friend told me that Logic would fit more to my "protools ways" but I don't like it, and DP has always been a great DAW so, here I am, same as you, learning how to use it and master it... good luck my friend and enjoy, I certainly am

Ha! I'm the same, Tyrone. Algebra does my head in. LOL FWIW, I tend to stick to the tools we all have - logic, the ability to make comparisons as well as to extrapolate, and I work like hell to maintain perspective, lest I get whisked up in a dust storm of hyperbole. Thought experiments are the cheapest and most limitless labs for hire that I know of too, so they play an important role for me. Heck, they don't even require power as they run on logic and experientially-derived data alone. You know, I believe we're equipped to understand things; otherwise, what would be the point? LOL

Oh man, please, can we pretend we didn't have this exchange?

"What exchange?", I hear you say. My point exactly.

It just don't seem right man. Everyone deserves a DP box. The box is legendary. Seinfeld should've done a show about the box. The DP box. Aaahhh... the box. That box is the bizz.

Mate, FWIW, I think you deserve a box. They're probably just trying to save money by cutting corners on virgos; they know we'll just cop it sweet. That reminds me - at the rate it's getting to Australia, I might be able to make it my b'day present. Or Christmas.

The above replies were written yesterday, FWIW, so sorry for the small delay; I gave up after an hour of trying to post them last night. At some point every day my connection grinds to a near halt, and only manages a few bytes/sec; at that point the board doesn't respond.

Jyoti! Welcome man! Good choice too, especially if you're still the practical guy you were a few years back. DP is more "old school" in its approach in many ways, and is configured more logically than the competition, IMHO.

That was you, wasn't it? I recognised your name straight away, as even though I didn't get to hear the White Town song (was it "Your Woman" or something?), I truly respected what you achieved with your cassette-based (8 track?) setup. Well done man, and again, welcome to your new home! :D

Seems like you already have a fan in UnicornLand, albeit in the unfortunate form of a rather mobile and agile furr ball.
For those who're wondering what I'm rabbitting on about, here's his site:

I'm trying to get my head round the differences and, so far, they've all been pluses. Really, I need to leap in and do a whole song to learn it but so far I've been having too much fun playing around.

One thing I prefer: the way setting up MIDI arps and echoes is so much easier than Logic's environment-based method. More musical and immediate! :D
