...it's official. Gonna order my Mac Pro with DP next Monday. Thx for all the great insight. I don't doubt I'll love it, if I can just find where the on/off switch is. I'm pretty sure based on all I've read, I just have to is think good thoughts and it powers up all by by itself, right? :P

It won't be official until you post your first major complaint about the program. THEN it's official. :)

Sorry, it's registered with the State of California and BMI already. But I'll come up with an even better one for you - and license it to you! :)

I just got my new Mac Pro and am installing all my programs, including DP. Has anyone used the automatic setup to do this from one Mac to another? Or should I just do what I am doing?

...hehe, you're right. I just kind of glossed over that one. In the back of my mind, I think I just dismissed it as a spambot that got through :)

And since Dave chimed it, I might post one new thread in one of the other forums about my choice of the MOTU ultralite as my audio interface. I just need to record one mic and one guitar (both me) and possibly input some external synths and samplers. I don't really know how or if those still fit into the new VI world. I still have my MOTU MPT MIDI Timepiece with 8-in/8-out from when I was syncing all my external hardware to SMPTE using a mixer. I'm not exactly sure how to incorporate this hardware into the virtual world (not really sure that I even want to but I still have a lot of equipment). I guess if I'm triggering external modules via MIDI I have to bring the 1/4 in output back into the MOTU ultralite and record it as an audio track in DP.

I hate the technical aspect of all this :)

MOTU has mentioned that some of the automated features are not a good idea for DP. You're doing the best thing by getting a fresh start with installs.

Thanks Frodo- I'm going to have to download it directly from the MOTU site anyway, it's not installing correctly. Thanks for the off-topic help as always.

I see I can't do that. Any thoughts on why the install fails? It seems to install correctly, but does not boot up.

Migration Assistant has always worked great for me.
