I love It, But I would love for an upgrade "say 6.5" that does give us options "UI-Customization" as well, i like to have choices

The GUI looks ok from the photos on line. I am waiting on the UPS truck so I can not have a real opinon on the GUI. I know eye strain is all too real and they should have an eye eronomicly inhanced GUI.

What I can say is; the box it comes in does not show the real look of Dpit is black not white and if I had known it came in such a dumb box I may not have ordered it. The box shows plug ins; come on show some edit windows or the tracks window; man I am so disapointed. How could MOTU do this to us?

Will you be changing the look of the nation to be the same as DP6 James? If so I want to go down as the first to cry about it even though I do not know if I will like it or not.

On a less comic note; You can still pick track colors as before right?

I can't believe how petty some people have been over this DP6 upgrade.

Sure, there will always be differences of opinion about features, look, feel and sound, but there's no need to insult folk who disagree with you.

And there are a lot of people whining about problems to which they have a ready fix: keep using 5.13 until the patch arrives.

I haven't got my copy yet (apparently Aussie copies are on a banana boat chugging across the Pacific … they should be here by Christmas) but when I do I'll install it, work out if I have problems, calmly report them if I do and keep using 5.13 if DP6 isn't ready for service. I mean, I really like 5.13, so it won't be the end of the earth!

What I won't do is whine about it or insult others who don't have the same problems I do.

We all know that MOTU will have patches for identified problems fairly quickly, so some folk should chill out a bit.

I agree. If a new Pro Tools or Logic update came out that was forcing people to adjust their monitors, we'd all be sitting smug saying how silly it is to have to do that.

November 16th! Wow, that's way earlier than I expected Monkey Man. You must have some wind assistance – or something!

but our perfect weather is only a dream this week – freezing till Tuesday and fog and rain since. But I had a mate up from Melbourne … and you know what they say about Melbournians: "Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you."

Also, for those who are "blinded by the light", do you use an LCD monitor (not CRT)? My guess is you are, but if you aren't there's your problem. LCD monitor's do not damage our eyes as CRT's can.

I think most of us are using LCDs now, but new LCDs can be nearly as bright as CRTs. I have a Dell 30" and when DP is up full it is throwing a lot of light out. I agree that it's very white, yet I don't think that it's painful etc. I agree that it would be nice to tone it down a little, but I do like the more clean apperance of DP6, especially finally getting rid of the color bars on the soundbites.

The vertical zooming in the Tracks Overview is also a huge deal for me. I really love this as well.

Speaking of the LCD monitors (as opposed to CRT ones), there is a limit to the degree you can lower the brightness and most of the monitors in the market have the limit set pretty high making the whole thing senseless. One time I had to replace my newly bought monitor because it was way too bright and no adjustment helped.

I personally am a bit disappointed with the new GUI and where they've moved things. Like moving the zoom buttons way down to the lower right corner of a window... What the *%#@! To me DP 5 is way more dimensional and easy to look at. Oh, well... I'll get used to it. It's just a shame to move things after you've worked on mousing around to specific locations for features for so long and are already fast at those locations. Why move them? Very odd, I think. I've still got 5.13 projects in progress. It's nice to be able to open them in 5.13 and then also work in 6 for newer projects and get that going... Always, keep the old version active. Working great. Also, no problems with 6 thus far. I opened a 5.13 project in 6 and all is good!! The only thing is that most of the plugins knobs are wacky if you try and drag them. They work fine if you just point to the location you want the knob to be at and then click. Working fine for me that way - til they fix the dragging issue.

But, seriously who designed this new GUI. Not immediately happy. All other upgrades were an instant improvement GUI-wise. -not so sure with this one. In some ways it seems backwards in evolution... my 2 pence.
