does the tremsetter allow you to pull up the bar as well as push it it down? my guitar player friend also said the strings going flat thing can be a bother on his guitar. im googling tremsetter right after this post. thanxJames Steele wrote:Sorry... I enjoy seeing just how cryptic a joke I can make and still have somebody get it. Ned Beatty was the actor in the early 70s movie called "Deliverance." Thanks about the guitar. Oddly that Razorback is flashy and gets some notice, but it's a cheap import. I have a custom USA V and ML, both signed by Dean Zelinsky that play better and are more expensive, but they are sans Floyd Rose and I need that for some songs. I also bought a Razorback V with the same color scheme. I installed a Hipshot "Tremsetter" on it though, as the tendency of Floyd Rose type bridges to "give" when bending strings drove me nuts!! Bend a note and all the other strings go flat. Now with the tremsetter I don't have this problem. Gotta push the bar down harder, but it sounds better to be in tune!
Yeah... you can pull the bar up a bit as well. Here's a link:jeff sanders wrote:does the tremsetter allow you to pull up the bar as well as push it it down? my guitar player friend also said the strings going flat thing can be a bother on his guitar. im googling tremsetter right after this post. thanxJames Steele wrote:Sorry... heh, that was a tune we did back in high school when it came out. i kinda miss the days of two guitars trading leads back and forth. ill pass it on to my friend. thanksJames Steele wrote:Yeah... you can pull the bar up a bit as well. The thing about it is that if you're squeamish at all about working on guitars you might want to have a tech install it for you. I mean... it's not THAT difficult, but if you look at some of the reviews on various sites, some people will complain, but I get the feeling they had a problem with installation. You need to take some careful measurements and take your time. For example, inside the tremsetter there is a rod that moves. At some point you trim off the excess amount of this wire rod, but it may be that in order to have full clearance for the travel of this rod, you may need to drill a hole in the side of the tremolo cavity.
It may not be for everyone and I'm not going make a guarantee. It's about a $36 gamble you're going to take, but if installed properly, I'm very happy. String bends for example... are that much more responsive as if you're bending a note on a hard tail guitar like a Les Paul. You need less pressure to raise a note to a certain pitch because the bridge is no longer giving you slack when you bend a note. Makes it much easier to go for the intentionally wild vibrato on a note. And of course, strings that aren't being bent don't go flat during a bend.
The only thing you miss out on that I can see... and it doesn't bother me... but if you want to still get the "Floyd Flutter"... that warbly effect like Brad Gillis in Night Ranger did in "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" by thumping the body of your guitar or quickly tapping the bar, you're out of luck there.
Yeah, I can't think of anyone else really doing that! As much as I admire Jeff Watson and his dexterity, I have to give Brad credit, that was a neat little trick, plus it looked pretty cool w/ him banging on his guitar while playing the notes.James Steele wrote:It was the only example that came to mind...ccrane wrote:James Steele wrote:The only thing you miss out on that I can see... and it doesn't bother me... but if you want to still get the "Floyd Flutter"... that warbly effect like Brad Gillis in Night Ranger did in "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" by thumping the body of your guitar or quickly tapping the bar, you're out of luck there.

Thanks... I like it too... I got lucky on that. You gotta tell people you heard it from me first!ccrane wrote:I like the coining of the phrase 'Floyd Flutter' : ) It immediately conjured up that NightRanger solo.

So far so good. I haven't had the squeal return and I had major issues with it. I'm still running on OS 10.5.2 though. They updated the firmware to v1.06 and had an update for the drivers as well. I've been hesitant to upgrade to 10.5.3 or 10.5.4 since everything seems to be working nowFoo wrote:
So, I'm looking at ordering an 828MK3 for a new live show I'm running this summer...
Has anyone seen the squeal come back with the latest drivers under OS X 10.5.3? If so, please respond. Thanks!
