Having "MOTU" in the new name would make it sound as an advertise for the company. As if we were sponsored by them.

Motu Universe would be okay, but Motuniverse would be (sorry) corny. That's just my opinion and I wouldn't use it.
MotuNation still has a hipness about it - like Rhythm Nation. Or Imagination, or "let's invade the Logic Nation", etc.
On another note, I think we've also discovered another useful moniker for us here at the MotuNation - we're
DPeople.
Cheers to all of us for diverting our attention from the usual digital pains in the butt to offer up some cool, insightful feedback that will make coming here even more inviting in the future.

MOTU products and using them are the primary source of interest here. I don't own any MOTU hardware, but I use MOTU's Digital Performer, so this is my preferred destination to learn and share ideas about using that program.
If not for MOTU, we'd all be at Gearslutz or elsewhere.

Indeed,
I just think that it's not looking good to have a commercial brand name as the name of a non-commercial discussion forum.

The people using the site make the forum what it is, not the name. I found this site even though I had no idea MOTU had anything to do with unicorns.
Please James! Keep the name!

I'm unclear why keeping the name is so important to you?

How bout UnicornUniverse? (':D')
Just kidding, James. I like the old name but your newest choice is just fine
too. Thanks.
Tom

I said this in an earlier post on the first poll. I like the current name because:
-it has a well sounding timbre to it. The new ones don't sound as good, they tend to get stuck in my throat (maybe because english is not my native language)
-the fact that it's strongly connected to the companys original name but yet far from obvious adds a kind of magic to it. When I got my first copy of DP I didn't realize that DP had been around for such a long time until I found this fantastic forum. The name itself is oldfashoned and thereby tells us that DP is a software that go way back and lots of people have contributed to make it what it is in 2008.
-it's charming that it's not mainstream. many of the other forums have the makers name incorporated into the forum name. Like finale forum and logic users group and so on.

DigitalPotato.com?
SnotFingers.net?
FlockOfBeagles.us?
Guys, you should be asking JAMES why he's keeping MOTU, not me. I'm just working within the choices we are given.
Wait. One more name:
EverybodyLovesShooshie.com?

We should cast a poll on wether MOTU should swich back to their original name or not. 'MOTU' sounds a bit like an automobile-brand. At least more than 'Mark of the Unicorn'.

Whats in a name eh....
I do really love Unicornation but if it has to change for what ever reason I'm still here and in 10 years from now when James decides to call it something else, I'll be saying but I really like motunation......

how about motuusersoftheworldunite.com

No offense kassonica but a lot of the users are not native english speakers. My gut feeling is that swedish is not the only language in which 'motunation' sounds a bit choppy when pronounced in our broken accents.
Maybe I would need a crash course in motonationpronounciation.
