Effects processing (EQ, compression/limiting, and reverb) is not available at 4X sample rates (176.4kHz and 192kHz).
Thanks for responding.
Makes sense. It would take alot of processing power to keep the effects going at those rates.

OK, so my plans for using 01v together with the 828mk3 is now officially trashed. This ADA8000 seems like a nice little thing.
Good thing I actually don't own the 01v - it's just a mixer we use when we play live - im a keyboardist among other things - and I am very pleased with the 01v, and therefore - now knowing everything about it's specs I assumed since there is lightpipe support that I could feed every single of the 16 channels from it into the 828mk3. So I was considering buying one for my studio, but no...
But the ADA8000 seems to be a supreme choice for me... So say I want to go all the way with 828mk3 and 2x ADA8000. I would then have like 18 Preamps and 10 Instrument inputs in my system? Just like that?
And there is another thing I'm wondering about too concerning the 828mk3 and DAW...
The 828mk3 has some mixer funtions like eq, dynamics and fx - all in the hardware. I am a cubase SX 3 user, and I am used to - since I only have the mbox now - to using SOFTWARE ONLY when it comes to eq, dynamics, effects etc... These are easily set up in the mixer in SX allowing me nice control from the DAW - of course since it's VST we're talking about - my question is if it's easy to control onboard hardware effects in the 828mk3 from the DAW? The coolest thing would be if there was a dedicated GUI for each of the hardware effects that could be intigrated into the VST mixer in SX3 the same way as all the other VST effects - so that it looked like VST plugin, but in reality controls the hardware processors...
All in all I can't see how the 828mk3 and a couple of ADA8000 isn't a great multitrack recording /music production setup...?

828MK3's FX can be controlled by the MOTU CueMix FX application. It does not integrate in any other DAW app, and there is NO published MIDI control spec for the 828MK3's FX - to build your own control panel within your DAW (Cubase, Sonar, Reaper, etc)
You can use a remote hardware controller that supports the Mackie Control, or HUI protocol Natively to control the MOTU CueMix FX application - which then controls the 828MK3 hardware.
These include Mackie Control, Edirol PCR-30, Behringer BCF2000, Bitstream 3X, Zoom HD16.
Third party MCU emulator apps will not work with MOTU CueMix FX.
Typical MOTU fashion - if you assume the 828MK3 does more than they specifically tell you - you will be disappointed. It only does 28 channel recording at 48K - not 96k, even fewer channel at 192K.
Also in the 828MK3 Manual they tell you that you will have problems if you push the limits,

That is an ADAT specification limitation, nothing to do with MOTU. Blame Alesis, they invented the technology. You get less channels at 96K because you have to MUX ADAT channels. It's the same for every interface sold with ADAT.
Anyone who knows how ADAT works will understand/expect that. By the way, the ADA8000 maxes out at 48K, because it is not capable of MUXing. Something to keep in mind.

Hi there i‘m quite new to this forum.
I bought the 828 mk 3 and i‘m very glad with it. You can measure all your hardware stuff to one sound and that‘s very helpful as a keyboarder.
I found out that you can use effects ‘til 48 khz not more. If you go higher
the mk 3 switches every effect of and the dsp leveler raises up as high as it can.
For all those who need updates for motu products without being registrated
go to
www.klemm-musik.de It is the official German dealer for motu-products, so it‘s all legal.
Greetings
