Yup, the VO guy is obviously only a VO guy, not a musician - or he is grammatically correct - question of the day... why do we pronounce MI as in, well, 'IN' and DI as DEE?

This is amazing stuff though - like it's been said, wonder how it sounds on other things, other than guitar, which it transposes in good fashion compared to DP's pitch correction. Of course, it's not in the 'real world' yet, so we'll see. But..., I still want it!

You know, it doesn't even matter whether the pitch-shifted material sounds good or not at this point, the fact that there is a program that recognizes the pitches in polyphonic material and lets you interact with them at all is such a total paradigm shift in the handling of audio that it's tantamount to exceeding the speed of light. It's like the laws of physics have changed.

The possibilities are endless with this. the MIDI capabilities are going to be awesome also. I loved the classical guitar demo.
This is going to be for music what digital and photoshop was for cameras.

I can't wait for this to come out. I don't consider it a corrective tool half as much as I do a creative tool. Celemony has taken the first step into a whole new world.

I think this is gonna be great for Celemony. Whoever came up with this is obviously brilliant and figured out a way to crack this problem. So long as they're good at keeping their mouths shut, I can't see any other developers cracking this problem any time soon. Celemony is going to be making a heap of $$$ for a while before someone else figures out how to do this.

I get your point, James, but now that others see this is doable, you'd be surprised as to how obsessive and stubborn these geniuses can be. Especially if they see the big bucks are starting to pour in someone elses pockets, they'll figure it out in no time

Heck yes; and everyone's going to be so obsessed with it that we'll have it built-into DP7.

Imagine this, now you can take a Beethoven symphony or a Beatles song and change all the notes around, change the harmony, the rhythm, etc. Now everyone can claim copyright. They have created a monster!!!!

Somebody posted on MOTU-MAC that they hope MOTU gets to work on this and puts this in DP. Not to be contrary, but honestly I hope they don't. I think there are far many more nuts-and-bolts features and ergonomic improvements to make before they burn man hours trying to implement this. I say if we want this capability, buy the plug and be done with it, but I hope MOTU focuses on making DP a more robust and capable PLATFORM for plugs like this, rather than duplicate their function. Of course... that's just my 2 cents.

But, notice how the announcer emphasizes that you can't hear any difference in audio quality, when you so obviously can. Take the nylon string guitar demo, right after the mad scientist guy states how you can take all your guitar loops and make them into anything you want. In the demo, he takes the guitar, which is doing a fingerpicking pattern based on an Am chord, and raises the high E string up to a G, and then the G note descends chromatically back down to E. Anybody notice that this descending pattern is also being reproduced an octave lower? It's REAL obvious.

I'm sure this will be a useful tool to have in the arsenal, but I'm not sure it will be as invisible as they want you to believe. In fact, the reason why I have never bought into Melodyne in the first place is how robotic the artifacts sound on the demos on their website. (Yes I know Melodyne has it's fans.) To be fair, the demo on the Waves site is just as bad. But anyway, I would suggest that you listen more closely to the demo itself than the announcer. This process is far from invisible.
