DP 4.6 works like a charm over here, that's with Panther (10.3.9). I'm sometimes wondering if the issues are 4.6/Tiger-related. But what do I know.
So, FWIW: for me, on an old 2x2 G5, with 3.5G RAM and a 424 PCI/2408mkIII interface, with two external FW drives and two internal SATAs, with 10.3.9, with 110V AC, in SoCal, while the weather is a bit on the hot side, with low humidity, and my general disposition being quite positive, DP4.6 works really well...

maybe G5 users dont notice th spike in cpu i was told it is something to do with background processes and made a few changes but it seems 4.6 has more headaches than most recent updates it is a known issue glad to see you are have fun thoughKubi wrote:DP 4.6 works like a charm over here, that's with Panther (10.3.9). Spurn wrote this earlier and I quote
"I e-mailed MOTU about this and they suggested turning off background processing... apparently the background processing for the new pitch automation feature is very CPU intensive. This seems to help a bit, but not alleviate the problem entirely. What definitely WILL help is setting your memory buffer to a higher setting (if you don't have latency issues)."

Not the case for me on a 1 ghz alu Pbook with 768 mo RAM, OS 10.3.8. Played some tracks with around 20 audio tracks and FX in 16 and 24 bits and all ran fine.slipstream wrote:and if you install 4.6 and save something then revert back like i did 4.52 wont open a 4.6 file
it is not good.. too risky and why should i have to reinstall my whole system to get it to possibly work. there was not alot wrong with 4.52 i never had any hassles but 4.6 was the only update i have installed scince the early 4.x's that i personally found had a major problem.. all other updates i stuck with but 4.6 was just stupid on a powerbook and no one ever told me how to fix the cpu spikes effectively.
I mean 1 track and cpu spiking is a major bug
