Ok. I know what the illegal characters are for the PCs.
Can you guys refresh our memories and tell us what the illegal ones are for our dear Macs?

Since I'm not sure what they are, I just avoid using anything but letters and numbers, but it would be nice to know anyway.

Don't use periods (.) either. OSX will sometimes mistake what comes after it for a file extension.

I don't trust BTD for anything that is important. If it was important, then I'd have to listen back to it, which negates any time saved.

If you have a newer motu interface, you can create a new audio track, and select it's input as "MIX1". Go into Cuemix, and under the File menu, make sure "MIX1 Return Includes Computer Output" has a check next to it. Once that is set, it will stay set. Now, when you arm that track, it will record everything that you are hearing on your speakers. That means all audio tracks, VIs, outboard aux returns, everything. Stuff that BTD never even hears. Just make sure that it's fader is down, of course. BTD? We don't need no stinkin' BTD.

As far as I know, none of this is in the manual, and no motu tech I have ever mentioned it to knows about it. But it works great, and is, I believe, the best way to run off mixes in DP.

Yes, I've been there as well :? - but for some strange reason DP allows them for BTD. I've also used dashes and commas without problems. I suppose it's because the "/" indicates a new volume or change in destination, which freaks out BTD and makes it cry.

Either way, MOTU should just tell you, "Hey, you! Stop using unacceptable file name characters in your BTD exports! K, thanks."

Wow, the same thing happened to me last night after a 7.5 hour session. I thought I was going crazy and was getting quite frustrated with the client sitting there probably thinking I was an idiot. I never considered the file name problem (Sonata Mvmts 4/5).

I'm so glad I have a place to go to find all the answers. You guys rock!

I've never had any problems with BTD unless audio tracks are armed. I bounce all the time.

How new is new?

I have 2 2408s and a 24i and I don't see the option for "Mix 1" as an input...I also don't see in Cuemix (v 1.4) under "File" the "MIX1 Return Includes Computer Output".

Thanks!
