Rikki,
Did you try to set your language to English and THEN install DP?
I still think it's the language bug. And I don't think MOTU will fix it. There are so few DP users outside the US.

It may be a language bug, but then it shoud perform badly with all other user too (with ohter than english)? Maybe there's two elements what is producing this behavior, language and something else. Finnish version OSX and DP works just fine. Although, you know finnish language, maybe they just had to program a entirely different OS/DP for us

Well, Linus made Linux.....
But do you have bizarre extra letters like in DK, SE, NO, IS, FE? - I always thought this may be the culprit. And I have never seen this behaviour in other OSX programs.
By the way, I live close to Kiruna, so we almost speak Finnish here. At least we do drink Vodka!

Some interesting possibilities seem to be emerging, but although we speak Icelandic here, with several strange letters in the alphabet, my PowerBook is set up exactly like the US system and I have disabled the Icelandic option. The keyboard doesn't have visible Icelandic characters in any case, but I can find them if I use the US Extended menu option.
So basically, everything should be working as if I lived in America./ What's different?

Yep. All those same "extra letters" as in Swedish (these letters > ä, å, ö. < with English OS those may not be visible).
At least we do drink Vodka!
I prefer beer
Rikki: Maybe you should make a clean install. Install all again, OS, DP etc. I know it's a pain in the arse, but at least then you would know does it help anything.

The language thing is most likely the source of your problems.
But reinstalling can be tricky sometimes. You think you got a clean reinstall, but something is left behind that corruptes your install again. The permissions and prefs have to be right. If you leave any prefs or corrupted files behind, you could be back at square one everytime.
In your case, as much as it sounds like a major pain, I would start from the very beginning with a completely fresh drive - reformated and start from there.
I had a bug that haunted me for ages until I finally got rid of it this way.
If you don't, you probably never get it sorted out.

Do you have more than one hard drive? Try creating a fresh OS install in US English on a partition and see if the problem persists.
BTW - I've been to Iceland twice (friends in Kopavogur). Nice country.

Hi , rikki .
I saw this in another thread and I don`t know
if this will work , but try downgrading your OS to
10.3.4. In another thread , someone was saying
that Apple isn`t testing the OS anymore on G4`s
after 10.3.5. I don`t know if this is true ,but
he was saying he heard this info from a guy at Apple.
So if you have time , it maybe good to give it a try.
Sorry if it doesn`t work tho .

I had the same problem when I had Finnish as the main language. Now I have switched to US. English (before re-installing DP452) and everything works fine for me.
G4 MP 1.25 GHz, 2 GB, 10.3.8
I am teaching at our University Logic (Pro & Express) & Cubase SX, but still I prefer to use DP for my own work...

So this is a good example, that there is also another reason for this bug, not only the language problem. In my system, Finnish is main language and everything has worked ok, even with my older Mac (same OS/DP versions).
Rikki: Is your own language first in the language list? I have first my own language, then English. Do you have Icelandic and English both installed and which order?
(My OS is 10.3.7 and DP version 4.52)

Calling Iceland!
Rikki,
I have received the private email that you sent and I've replied. I also followed up with our tech department and it turns out they've been trying to reach you for a week. Our emails have not been bounced back so we have had no indication that you weren't receiving them.
Please call me at 617 576 2760 during US East Coast time 9AM to 6PM and we'll straighten this out for you.
Cheers,
Magic Dave

DP "may?" have a language bug

that that doesnt
allow it to play nice with scandinavian languages.
But my native tounge (swedish) belongs to this
category (last time I checked) and I DONT have
this problem.
In fact I removed very other tounge from my OS-X
install - except swedish - and everything works
just fine.
(granted that you cant really remove the english
language from the basic BSD foundation).
I dont thinks it's a language issue - something else is causing your problems.
