Using Machfive2 DXI with Sonar - Having problems

Hi,

I'm using Machfive2 DXI on PC with Sonar Producer 7.0.2. I'm not having a good time with it at the moment and have several Techlinks open with MOTU. In short I have the following kind of problems:-

1) I am experiencing massive CPU usage when the Machfive2 user interace is opened as DXI or VST, and this continues when it is closed.

2) The Machfive 2.0.2 patch has caused certain projects of mine to begin suffering major audio dropouts.

3) The Standalone application is very unstable on my system and frequently hangs with very high CPU usage.

I think the product has great facilities and sounds brilliant - when it works!

I'm frustrated because I want to get on with my music and want to use Machfive2, but i'm bogged down in technical problems.

Overall at the moment I'm very disappointed, I think MOTU needed to test this product more thoroughly on the PC - I'd volunteer to be a Beta Tester if they were interested, I might offer ! :(

Well if you're getting CPU spikes using the standalone then the problem may not be with Sonar.

Can you list your hardware?

Some progress.

Turned out my Standalone problems were solved by installing the latest NVIDIA graphics drivers, the default XP driver for GEFORCE FX 5200 is a dud. So much for Microsoft certified drivers!

The high CPU under Sonar is still happening; got Motu Tech Support looking at it at the moment as well as the dropout problem which only started after the 2.0.2 patch was applied.

Another tip, in my experience the Sonar X-Ray facility is incompatible with Machfive2, disable it in global options and/or update XRAYEXCLUDE.INI (see Sonar README notes with V6 or V7).

Hardware in my signature. 8)
